BC Resident hunting opportunities being lost

To all fellow hunters out there, there is some back room deals being drawn up by the Guide Outfitters Association of BC that is cutting into resident hunting opportunities through out BC.

I will post links to what is happening instead of writing it all out. Basically there was an allocation Policy that was drawn up by the gov and was signed by the the GOABC, BC Trappers assoc. and on behalf of the Resident Hunters of BC, the BCWF. It basically divided up the AAH between FN, the residents and GOABC.

Now the GOABC is now lobbying the Gov to change the allocation policy and put more animals on LEH, especially in areas where we there is no conservation concern. Example is Region 5 Mule deer or the Region 8 moose.

There is a huge push by the GOABC to have less residents in the bush and more non-residents paying huge $$ for our resourse.

It follows along the same lines as our halibut fight, a commonly owned resource being bought and used by the few that have the $$.

Now the Gov went out and hired a consultant to consult with JUST the GUIDES, nobody else and see what they would like, then these demands will be put forward to the legislature to be voted upon this spring. We as residents do not get a say in this stuff.....unless we start writing letters to our MLA's, the Minister responsible and anybody else who will listen, the media, other hunters etc.

Read the all the pages and ignore guys named Devilbear, Jelvis and Willy442, the first rambles on about kicking all foreigners out of BC, the second usually about nothing and the last guy was a outfitter for 30+ years.

We need to get going on this as, just like our fishing opportunities, our hunting opportunities are slowly being given away to others who are not residents of BC

They've been doing that for the last 5+ yrs. out here, the outfitters get first crack at the tags for thier clients. Not many zones left here that are not Draw Only for Moose and Elk.

At the BCWF AGM last week, a motion was put on the table and passed unanimously(or close to) that the BCWF lobby the provincial government to exclude the BCGOA from further Limited Entry discussions.
I'm going to stay on the Wildlife Committees case to see that this is done. It doesn't force the government to do anything but 35,000 voices make a lot of noise.
