Barkley Sound Cabins

could you guys all get organized and pitch in for a local to do some sweeps,,where i am people with cabins get them checked weekly or their insurance is no-go..

Or Alarms ,

even a car alarm with a couple batteries , and a small solar panel ta keep them charged..
this would scare them off guaranteed , , there not gonna take a chance stickin around knowin that someone could here the siren (s) , if ya think the RC boat cruises the hood regularly , NOT, there fuel bill would be insane...i spoke to the Captain here at our dock , they just cant do it ,they do what they can , its up top you to secure your valuables , remove whats gonna attract these clowns to come back , I am here at the trailer often in the off-season , Its a Ghost town out there...I feel for ya guys , but ,,,,times of change , sucks...

Indeed, looks like we have to do what we can to get cameras and alarms installed. Some of the guys talked about doing patrols and challenging anyone that looks out of place. Pattern of guys staying in these cabins for a few days given the reports I've heard, so we can perhaps get lucky and just drive right up to them and catch them in the act. They have DNA samples to match up now. Just would be better to catch them in the act.

I just got back from checking on my place and a couple others , met up with a couple cabin owners taking toll of their damage. My place escaped the last wave, but this is getting stupid now. Maybe it would be a good idea to organise a schedule of patrols, cameras and alarms are only good if they are left alone by the twits , with the limited technology available down there it's not hard to get around anything as far as legal securtity goes. I have tried booby traps in the past and ended up facing a bigger charge than the crook did.

It wasn't my cabin that got me in trouble but I imagine the laws are the same. I silver soldered razor blades on the back of a car stereo years ago and sure enough I woke up to a pile of bloood all over the interior of my truck...but the stereo was still there. I was charged ..but not convicted for having a concealed weapon. The lawyer cost way more than the stereo was worth. I have contemplated a trap door idea more than once for my cabin but I keep thinking of my past experience. maybe a sign warning to keep out because of dangerous construction in progress would be all a guy would have to do to be legal I'm not sure.

wow we my have grown up in the same hood, did the same.. but it was not reported to police. Caught the guy screaming in the driveway....pleading that we not call the cops

Ya I already have one down there and the pictures I have are not good enough for the cops. It's kind of tough to keep a motion activated camera pointed at a floating cabin and not fill up a memory card in a short period of time. Got lots of seagul and crow pictures though lol.
