Any action down there this weekend boys? I noticed alot of boats at the marina while driving by through out the weekend. Someone had to have dipped there lines. Any comments???

hey im new to this site been reading alot of the posts but finally decided to sign up
any way we went down with two boats for the weekend fished every where pill, swale, vernon, all around there both of the boats got nothing the other boat got a solid hit but lost is right away we only saw one fish being caught the whole time we were out there so i would say its pretty slow right now

Fished kirby this weekend which produced quite well for us, considering its a tad early. Got 2 in the boat saturday biggest was 18lb smallest was about 12. Then this morning i got one that was 19lb. How did everyone else do. Any luck outside i was thinking about taking a peak this next coming weekend??

Fished Bamfield / Barkley Saturday and Sunday. Tried Kirby Saturday morning and didn't get a bite. We ended up fishing 14 mile and then the Rats Nose which is about 21 miles out and only caught one little halibut. Some action was happening at 7 mile on Saturday and Sunday morning so we went out and gave it a try Sunday evening. One smaller salmon then had to leave as we were encountering problems with the Lowrance in the midst of fog and fairly choppy seas..... We stayed at the Nook and saw very few fish..... Crabbing was pretty good. SS

Thanks for the update SS still makes me wonder if its worth going offshore or not though. I do plan on going down again this weekend coming so more reports through out the week will be muchly appreciated Thanks...

Im goin up thursday/friday. Fishing inside thursday afternoon and heading offshore on friday hopefully. Striper Sniper what was the situation with the fuel dock in Bamfield? Is it open 7 days a week yet?

I spent Saturday, Sunday and today washing hooks and very little else out in the sound this weekend. I fished Kirby, Edward King and Beale with only one small Spring. Talked with a few guides who said it was very spotty, in one day and gone the next. Other people went out to 7 mile and fished hard for only two small hali's. I saw a small group from Russia rent a boat and went jigging by the whistle buoy across from beale, with a light rod and tackle they got a 25lb hali. I think everything is running about 2-3 weeks later than normal.

Hey Chevyshaulass, I blieve fuel is available 7 days a week. I should mention that I did fuel up, $1.49 per litre..... We stayed in the bunk house and had it all to ourselves. SS

Fuel at KingFisher was 1.45, fuel in Alberni was 1.24
Our biggest was a nice 22 pounder, a 14 pounder, and an 8....alot of hours in the water, very spotty..heard someone landed a few Halis, biggest being 125 lbs....but all the way out at 26 mile.
gonna be there all week 7th-14th keep u posted!

Will be doing the long haul Friday, and likely one of the next two days as well.

Has been spotty all right.

McKay Bay is open for fuel all week now also.

Might have seen that big one up close even... :o

Nice to meet Striper Sniper at the dock.

Well it was slowwww. Got a 12# at kirby last night and kept 2 smaller springs and lost a couple out at 7 mile today. Put in quite a bit of effort for butts and only hooked one but lost it also. Weather was great at least. Lots of bait around offshore but a serious lack of fish.

Chev, did you not head north.. Should be there by now eh.. Fished long beach last weekend. Two chickens no springs. Will be over in Barkley next week. Drop me a line-cheers dirty

Dirty, there are some fish out from Beale - worth the trip over to the bench where I was fishing halis last year. See you out there...last cast
