Way to go South Island!
Huge turnout - 400 or better.

Thanks again to Chris Bos and the BC Sport Fishing Coalition!

Several politicians were on hand to join the revelry of a good ole' fashioned Town Hall ***** session.

I'm firing-up my letter writing hand as we speak.

Gentlemen - start your pens!

its amazing what a little radio newspaper advertising does - this was just halibut - salmon is in line which is a much bigger audience and we need just as much support in the spring when we get the face to face with DFO. Was a good meeting with a clear message and I appreciate that they made it clear that the commercial that FISH are supported, its the ones that don't that are the big problem. I also found it very eye opening that there is essentially no east coast sport fishery - totally makes sense as to why Ottawa has written us off all these years. They truly don't get it as all they know is commercial!

I had to leave early, unfortunately, but a good speech by Chris Bos and great turnout.

Had family to do's.....
You just out numbered the commies
Good job guys

Main emphasis on the meeting was letter writing - regardless of how long or how short it is, get it in, don't just count on the other guy to do the work for you. Send to Shea, send to your MP's etc etc - here is the writeup if any want some background for it.

Got my letter done now, added a personal touch to it as to how it personally effects me (the tinboat guy) with a photo of my boy beside the one we caught this year....can it hurt, doubt it!

Now that is great news, I thought that the Courtenay turn out was good (it was), but it looks like the word is spreading and more of us are getting involved, this is what we need. Now let's see if we can get even larger turnouts at the next two meetings. I am going to try to attend both. United We Stand - Divided....well we won't be fishing for long.

Way to go people. Was there any press there? We need to get the TV News media involved.

There was someone with a tv camera taking footage around the room (didn't see if they recorded the whole thing), not sure where they were from. Several reps from local government and a few assistants I assume taking photo ops as well.

The meeting was carried by "A" news- a short burb but showed up in the first 5 minutes of the news-Great job guys ;)

YES way to go guys that is and will send a strong message to people involved but like they said you need to write letters even if its just a short "why are you doing this"? why are you not changing this? check out the sfibc.ca site its really simple , and tell all your buudies as well to.... and send it to the MPs. the minister(gail shea) and finally Chris bos or any of the reps to know you sent it.
The reason why to the reps or chris becasuse if they collect cases of these letters and IF they go to ottawa to represent us ...BAM there going to throw a few cases of letters on her office desk from disgruntal fisherman can you imagine the look on her face???????

Again kudos to Chris,Tom,Darren from outfitters and the guy from peddar bay for there speaches and Mike hicks for stepping up and"keeping it real" someone we can really relate to....

This is just the beginning guy it was AWESOME to see that many people now if we can get that many out for a SFAB meeting when DFO is there we scare the shiat out of him.
Next up unfortunatlly will be the salmon fishing for area 19/20 thats not looking good at all either so please be prepared for the next fight as well but this last show and if we send a clear message to dfo it will help our cause....

Again GREAT JOB TO ALL that came out we need to keep going, it was GREAT to see ....

Did I miss anything, on the open mike? Had to take off after the first few.

Great turnout and great public speaking guys. Chris as always, sure gets the point across clear and concise, Darren said it the way it is, Hicks was great... gave even the old boy in front of us some good chuckles. Pedders GM gave a good perspective from a lodge standpoint.

Pretty sure close to all the Guides were there, and alot of familar faces. Also a few good old Commercial boys who I recognized.

Hats off to Chris, SFI,SFAB and the rest of the troupers who put out the effort to make it right!

Heard that 371 signed the registration sheets at the Victoria Town Hall meeting Wednesday night.
Also took in close to $1500 donations to offset meeting room cost, photocopying, signs, etc.
These are formidable targets for the Nanaimo and Campbell River meetings to attain. Good luck!
