How far would you have to go of shore to get a halibut? I have never caught one before but have been to about 19 mile.

Thanx. Any idea how deep I should start fishing? Iam thinking about downrigging for them.

180-200ft approx I would say but someone else might have a better idea.

Look for a flat bottom 160-180 ft. I would troll right on the bottom as you can get springs that way too. Downside is you will be picking up junk fish too (mostly doggies). When I get my boat back I will have a look at my GPS. I put wpts in for every hali we caught.

You won't get too many doggies tho by trolling large spoons, if you troll bait your going to get tons!
