Going up to Bamfield next weekend...does amyone have a report on how the fishing is up there?
thx

Just got back from being there for a week. The weather was rainy and very windy. The fishing inside was slow and very rough to get outside. The weather cleared up today while we were packing up to come home. There is a derby going on this weekend that ends monday.

I just got back from the weekend, fishing pretty slow on the inside. Outside not all that great either (at least for me), alot of small fish (<15lbs) but hali action has been good. Derby this weekend, 33-34lbs took the top 3 fish (all inside fish - I think). Hopefully things will get better.

Hopefully more show up SOON. Heading over for 3 nights tomorrow. Capable of going offhshore but 'dad' would prefer to stay in close.
Of course the latest news is always appreciated!

Fishin' anywhere anytime for anything

Tons of boats at 7 mile. I fished ~20 mile. Heading out probably tomorrow, probably inshore but will provide an update.

I was up there sat-tues.Weather was great, fishing was just O.K.
First day was an afternoon fish around Kirby-not a sniff.
Second day was offshore at 7 and 12 mile-two springs in the boat and four missed by 10 AM.
Switched to jigging and picked up 2 halibut and a skate.
Third day was a first light bite off Meares bluff.Lots of strikes but unable to bring one in.Died off by 7:30.Tried jigging off the pinnacles by Cree.Bottomfish galore and one chum.
Last day was spent at first light at Cape Beale. 1 spring about 15 lbs in the first 2 minutes, then nothing.
If you are looking to catch fish then head offshore and troll the bottom-right on bottom.
If you fish inshore, first light seemed to the best time

Hooch

I know this is a stupid question that I should already know the answer to. With the different regs for inside and outside, can we fish inside and retain one fish apiece and then head offshore and retain a 2nd fish each?

Fished Kirby yesterday and got an 8 lb hatchery coho and a 25 lb spring. Lost 2 others. Coho was at 120 and spring at 50 ft.

Just to be clear you are unable to retain any chinook OVER 77cm offshore of Bamfield as of August 1st. Right?

Nerka

Fished Friday, pretty dismal for springs.........sure caught some coho, hailbut and snapper but if your a die heart spring fisherman it was bad fishing. Fished both inside and outside. As before, hopefully it improves.

Any recent updates? Were headin out tommorrow for the week probaly fish inside and poke around the inner banks weather permitting. Talked to the buddy were meeting out there and he fished a few hours this morn had a 25 and a 15.

The recent update from POETT NOOK says fish everywhere 20-40lb,sounds too good to be true, but you will never know till you get there. Two of us heading up on wed.morning!!..GOOD LUCK
