Any Stones fans ?

Saw them in the Kingdome that tour. Grinded our way right to the front of the stage. Good times.

I saw them at Rich Stadium outside Buffalo, NY, in 1978. They were with Journey, Atlanta Rhythm Section and April Wine. 80,000 people.
Great show.

Maybe got ya all beat - I saw them in 72' at the Coliseum in Van when they toured with Stevie Wonder and got banned from the city for 10 yrs. thereafter.

Little wonder there was riots. The city and the cops provoked it in my view by having 'Legions' of cops in full riot gear marching drill-like around the outside of the building before the show even started. We sat in park across the street partying and watching it all before the show started.

What a night! (what I remember of it) Buddy Gerry goes through the turn-style ahead of me with a two-six of Bacardi's stuffed down the front of his jeans while wearing only a light waist length leather jacket. The two big cops on either side of the turn-style frisk him up and down then send him in. I say, "WTF?" but feel suddenly less-anxious about the pipe in my boot. I followed him with a 3" hash-pipe stuck in the ankle of my civil-war boot. Sure enough, with my buddy standing 20-ft away laughing at me, one of the cops gently 'pats' my ankle and says, "Hey buddy, what do we have here...". They took it.

Pretty good account of the outside (riot) aspect of that night here:

This show was the best of my life for 3-reasons:

1) I got to see Stevie Wonder who was so awesome that 17-thousand drunk & stoned Stones' fans DEMANDED no less than 3-encoures.
2) I was so buggered-up on this and that, that I saw 'double' for most of the night; therein, got 2-shows for the price of one.
3) Charlie was indeed - 'Good that night!'

Footnote: Finally downloaded 2 of my all-time favorite Stones songs to my ipod that you just don't hear on the radio any more.

Let it Bleed and Sticky Fingers were IMO two of their best albums and Monkey Man and Can't You Hear Them Knocking two of the best guitar oriented Stones songs, also from those albums. Mick Taylor was a gem, Ron Wood doesn't even come close.

Took my wife to see them in '98 in Vancouver. Two top price tickets ran at total of $140.00 plus service charges. This was before the days of online sales so I started calling Ticketmaster at 10:00AM and kept dialing until I got through at 1:00PM. Took my two daughters to see them in '05 and paid well over $1300.00 for three tickets. My how times have changed!
Greatest Rock and Roll Band in the World. I hope that we get the chance to see them one more time.

Saw them in '84 in Toronto on the steel wheels tour
Used a multi line phone with speed dial till I got through.
By then it was sold out but they had tickets for a second show.
Got 6 tickets in the 4th row, center.
Found out I had more friends then you could shake a stick at.

Hey LittleHawk: Caught the same tour only in Toronto. Man it was 120 degrees in Maple Leaf Gardens. We were in the 13th row centre stage. Stevie wonder was incredible. When his set was finished I said to my wife what could be better then that. Then the Stones hit the stage. So much for that thought. Mick realized how hot it was as most of the fans, women and men where stripping off to the waist. He came out with a big bucket of water and whipped it out into the audience. I got wet.;)eman

We went to the Steel Wheels concert in Vancouver in '89. Just out of high school. Little Hawk's double vision was present big time. The only thing I remember was a group of folks in front of us that were about 25 years older and soooo stoned they slept through half the concert LOL. We weren't too far behind them and it was very hard to balance standing on the cheap plastic seats they had on the floor.

I really like most of their songs. Great band.

Agree totally re. Stevie Wonder EM. I'll never forget how during one song (don't remember which...blurry) Stevie moved around the entire stage and confiscated each insturment off the player and began to play along then did a short solo on each, (guitar/bass/sax/keyboard) culminating in a stint on the drums that included a 5 or 10 minute drum-solo that remains to this day likely the best drum solo I've ever heard. He did Keith Moon proud that night.

Stevie was then and still is - the consumate musician and performer. Although he more resembles a big-fat black Marmot now:)

The other enduring memory of that concert was how the concrete slope where I sat in at the Coliseaum was littlerally moving (bouncing) up & down to the beat of Midnight Rambler.

Yep Stones are a great band. Must be, as they are English after all..!! LOL:)

Never got to see the Stones live but someone on here mentioned Led Zepp and someone else mentioned cheap tickets in the "old days".

Well back in the day (65-72) many of these groups were still considered "underground" and they still toured the University clubs and halls. I remember seeing Led Zepp in the Old Refectory at Southampton University (UK) in 1972 (or was it 73?). Anyway I think the tickets were about £4 (equivalent to about $8 then). The venue only accommodated about 400 students. Talk about being close to the sound!!;)

Saw several other groups back then, some of whom forum members will probably never never have heard of since they were "electric folk" genres. Moody Blues played the Uni one summer but I think that was 1969.......
Ah memories of youth.....:)
