Maybe got ya all beat - I saw them in 72' at the Coliseum in Van when they toured with
Stevie Wonder and got banned from the city for 10 yrs. thereafter.
Little wonder there was riots. The city and the cops provoked it in my view by having 'Legions' of cops in full riot gear marching drill-like around the outside of the building before the show even started. We sat in park across the street partying and watching it all before the show started.
What a night! (what I remember of it) Buddy Gerry goes through the turn-style ahead of me with a two-six of Bacardi's stuffed down the front of his jeans while wearing only a light waist length leather jacket. The two big cops on either side of the turn-style frisk him up and down then send him in. I say, "WTF?" but feel suddenly less-anxious about the pipe in my boot. I followed him with a 3" hash-pipe stuck in the ankle of my civil-war boot. Sure enough, with my buddy standing 20-ft away laughing at me, one of the cops gently 'pats' my ankle and says, "Hey buddy, what do we have here...". They took it.
Pretty good account of the outside (riot) aspect of that night here:

This show was the best of my life for 3-reasons:
1) I got to see Stevie Wonder who was so awesome that
17-thousand drunk & stoned Stones' fans DEMANDED no less than 3-encoures.
2) I was so buggered-up on this and that, that I saw 'double' for most of the night; therein, got 2-shows for the price of one.
3)
Charlie was indeed -
'Good that night!'
Footnote: Finally downloaded 2 of my all-time favorite Stones songs to my ipod that you just don't hear on the radio any more.
