Any Alternatives to Navionics App

Look at the time zero app from nobeltec. Which is C-map etc. Only supported on Apple tablets. Which sucks but makes navioics looks like a child's toy. It's unreal
Once you guys go to C-map it’ll be tough to look back. I ve always had a Furuno MFD in my boats so I have a long history with C-Map. On my latest boat, though, it came loaded with Garmin and Navionics . After installing Furuno side by side, I am now able to see the difference between the two charting options in real time

In my opinion, the comparison between the two is not even close, especially with the newer TImeZero C-Map—head and shoulders above Navionics

Yes, there’s an up-front charge for the software, not an annual subscription but once you dial it in, you’ll immediately see the benefits.

Case in point: route planning . Yes, Navionics does that fine …. but ONLY FROM CURRENT VESSEL POSITION… Try and plan a route from Powell River to Port MacNeil via Cordero Channel while sitting in your driveway or in a marina in Vancouver…huge PITA with Navionics but C-Map is a few minute exercise. Then with C-Map you can do a “fly over” of the route you built from begin to end or end to begin and make edits of waypoints as necessary….Navionics does not offer that option at all

I also found mis-spelled reefs and reef locations on Navionics that seemed more accurately spelled (and placed on the chart!) on C-Map

Just my .02 but when I bought my latest boat (brimming with Garmin) my first move was pulling the Garmin 8614SXV out of the console and installing a TzT3 in it’s place (I kept the Garmin and mounted it on the dash)

I was really glad I bellied up to the bar for the TzT3, especially paired with the new SCX20 sat compass —-it has a well-deserved reputation for being the best compass on the market
Dam I sold the last C-Map card that came with my last lowrance. I would love to see the details on Border Bank and off Tofino/Ukee/Bamfield for comparison. I found another winner winner chicken dinner spot on my Navionics app Wednesday but a second pinnacle I was looking for didn't exist.

You wont understand until you see the charting and the app. It's nothing like the vector stuff or the usual Cmap stuff. It also incorporates overlays of live weather, windy, currents etc. Pretty awsome. The problem on the app is you need a cellular enabled iPad or it won't work offline. Apparently they built the GPS chip on the same board as the cellular chip inside the tablet. Just another reason why I don't like Apple portable products but hey whatever. The app is unreal.

Should work for the iPhone too? Appreciate it.

Yes iPhone also. Not sure about the ios versions etc but I would assume if your in the last 5 years or so will be fine.

It's basically like the desktop version of nobeltec into an app that is obviously limited.

I just bought a C-Map reveal chip today for the shading feature. I also have an extra chip so I can log my sonar and create more detailed maps of the areas I fish in the regular. Excited to try it out tomorrow. Going to Bowen to look for some coho.

Also I have an 4 year old Navionics chip now. Is the Navionics chip worth anything if I try to re- sell it?
