Any Alternatives to Navionics App

I tried a bunch of different ones a couples years back to see what options were out there, and nothing came close to Navionics (for my needs). I bought three years worth of subscriptions before they raised the price last time so happily locked in to them for a while.

Really depends on what you are after. My priorities are auto route planning (with fuel burn and time), charts and waypoint management. None of the other apps I looked at had all three. If you need one or two of the above (or prioritize something else), then there might be something out there for you for less cost.

Managed to not buy it for 10 years, bought it once in 2015 and the good maps stayed with that phone till I upgraded, I tried one or two other apps with bad results but haven’t had navionics for 4-5 years. Was out last week on a friends Freedom Boat club boat with a Garmin and couldn’t find my halibut spot. Bought the app, rebranded Garmin? But it was still called boating on my phone, found a new spot with it and hammered 2 Hali in less than an hour once it was fishable. I don’t think anything else is as good especially if you run a navionics chip in your boat.

I'm with @CBsqrd, The auto-routing is nice, and they also have real time current speeds on there as well which is helpful. Other apps aren't nearly as good or provide the detail that Navionics does. I prefer using my phone/app when looking for new bottomfish spots or planning routes for West Coast Isl trips/runs in areas I am not familiar with so I subscribe to it. $80/year, can't remember if it's US or CAD.

Just started my free trial. I had this but when I sold my last boat I erased it from my phone to save space.
I get why it’s pricier than the rest. It cost them a lot of time and money to chart the entire ocean

Taxpayers paid for the mapping surveys/ cartography and then those files got transferred for who knows what price.
I pay the $80.
You can drop waypoints on the free basic BRMP app as a backup to waypoints on your plotter. Certainly not safe for navigation. You can mark a trail too.

I’m trying the I-boating navigation app this year. After Garmin and Navionics joined forces Ive noticed a decline in accuracy to go along with the jump in price. At least on my local lakes charts. This app has detailed charts and a lot more options than navionics but too soon to tell. Only $40 if it doesn’t pan out as opposed to $80 and it can’t be any worse. . IMG_0027.png

When north of Caution, nothing more accurate then CHS charts.... but it's piracy what they want to charge for them. NOAA in the states allows free downloads of their digital charts. Seems our high taxes are just not enough to allow us the same privilege.

i’m not sure if i’m in some weird Matrix world but i paid for my app one time like, a million years ago and it still simply works.
every time i open it i get a message telling me my subscription has expired but i ignore it like a check engine light and i get all the bottom contours and tide guides which is all i really want anyway.

Same. I had to tell my kid "don't hit that update button!" It is an outrageous annual fee.

Once it’s uploaded you don’t loose it, you just don’t get all the features and updates, I haven’t renew in a long time
