Aluminum boat owners - What are you going to use for Antifouling bottom paint?

Hey Bill, how’d it go?

Same here with the barnacles! Dropped my top speed from 42 kts down to 35 kts right before haul out last week! Very thankful for the thorough wash Inlet Marine performed before setting her on blocks.

I managed to get by with a couple of small barrier coat touch ups and the remaining half can of trilux 2.

I noticed that Interlux Micron CF is available now so I might give that a shot when I run out of my soon to be refreshed stash of Trilux 2, courtesy of another member.

Touch up went well. New Hull Zincs. Boat will get a full bottom strip clean and paint next spring. Hopefully, by then there will be some more paint new bottom paint products and reviews.

Monday, we are replacing the batteries. Initially, we had some issues with the batteries staying charged, until a minor wiring fix was done.

The batteries went flat half a dozen times. We have some longer trips planned this summer fall and I wanted to be proactive. The batteries are 3.5 years old now and I thought I would be ahead of the curve. We bought the batteries during Covid (after a lot of searching) and while they were NIB I was always a little concerned about them.

The boat has three type 31's.

Just an FYI. I use aluminum anodes on my hull for ocean/saltwater use. Sliver streak recommends them over zinc anodes despite what TROTAC or other shops might say. Silver streak sells them if needed

Thanks, and good to share this important point. Inlet has the SS recommended zincs as well.

Good to hear, Bill.

I saw the back end of your Boat for the first time last weekend having finally spotted her after a few seasons of looking. Great looking boat!

Mine went much the same, turned out to be much less work than my anxiety was planning for 😂

We should try and meet up for lunch one of these days. The little restaurant at Reed Point is pretty good

I have a 24ft aluminum that lives on a trailer. Never been bottom painted. Going to get a slip at one of the spots in north arm, likely milltown. Anyone know what the costs would be for me to get an epoxy barrier coat and an antifouling coat?

Also, after getting a barrier coat, if it will live in brackish waters at the marina and I don't have plans on any extended stays longer than a ling weekend in a saltwater bay, do I need an antifouling coat?
