I think you can look to South Korea, Japan and Taiwan. All three countries have amazing mask compliance without a mandate. I don't think their stats are a coincidence.

I am not sure why you two are debating mask use again. It is non-starter. It is documented in the math and science. It doesn't prevent COVID but does help.
Do you guys think that maybe we are also seeing a large growth in mainland is that it isn't the masks it is the large shopping box and groceries stories with crappy ventilation.
That and the fact things we changed is we let kids go back too school. I would bet kids are spreading it through school systems/bringing home to parents.

My understanding is there is science that suggest children have not developed to where the corona virus can affect them or they can transmit. There are also critical socialization skills that may be impacted.
Sadly they also likely looked at domestic violence and poverty and feel the kids are safer at school.

no they say it’s from people having large gatherings at their homes where they are not taking any protective measures such as distancing. Mask wearing and hand washing.

Yes, if you listen to ms Henry it is due to gatherings like weddings and funerals mainly in delta, Surrey, Langley area for the outbreak. There have been very few outbreaks in schools and virtually no transmissions at grocery stores.

I can't imagine being in restaurant business right now. I bet we will lose over half when this is over.
The first wave pushed over the businesses that were already at the edge most likely anyway. Do it again 2nd and 3rd wave and I fear many won't survive. Especially those with leases and landlords.... Tough times. We need a vaccine.

I have been doing take out at my fav place since the started all this way back, i went in there the other day and talked to the owner she said she was doing very well but it was pretty obvious that she had laid off basically all here in dinning staff. She said she was enjoying having a simpler business model.
Restaurants though in tourist driven areas or that specialized in having large groups and selling lots of alcohol seem to not be fairing well at all.
I also still support where I can with takeout, especially for restaurants that i'd like to stay around. Certain restaurants can do fine with this model think take-out indian, sushi, thai etc. However, other models are much more difficult such as the large spaces like Cactus Club/Earls/Boathouse/Brew Pubs etc.
Those places need drink sales to cover rents. Takeout just won't get you there.

Hoping ALL the members on this forum will wear masks when shopping for groceries and other indoor activities.
Covid is exploding in BC and it would be totally irresponsible not to.
Shopped for groceries in Thrifty Foods today and was shocked to see how many people were still not wearing masks.
It's time to make masks mandatory in all indoor locations on Vancouver Island!!
No mask, No service at the till. Kick em out of the store when they arrive would be even better!

Went musky fishing in northern Ontario in bum fack nowhere mid September the community I was in 5k everyone was wearing a mask indoors and I mean everyone it was a shock to me coming from bc and how lax we have been with something as simple as wearing a mask.
FYI numbers are going up expect to see larger outbreaks on the island I know that one hospital has has 5 staff in the same unit test positive in the last 24hrs, probably be on the news tomorrow.

Can't speak directly for paramedics, but for guys on my shift at my department, we're essentially "in each others bubble." I'm trusting guys to be smart about staying healthy, and they're trusting me. If anything, we're more aware and conscious of our health at the moment. We are not required to wear masks on shift, unless we're interacting with the public, or on a call that permits a mask to be worn. On medical calls, BCAS always puts on their masks in the cab, before stepping out. If you are concerned, ask them next time you see them. Take the high road.

Agreed. Just put a mask on. I was at Harbour Chandler back in August waiting in line then some knob showed up blabbering about that he doesn't need to wear a mask and that it's against his rights. Some people just suck.

Thanks for the clarity . Was not my intention to snitch . we are playing a traveling game these days to and from the commute to work and passenger always ready to snap a picture .The game is one of us takes masks at double points and the other takes no masks of occupants of vehicles with more than one person in the vehicle. Helps pass time . I received double points for authority members not practicing what is being asked of civilians.
