I totally agree. The courts were a scheduling disaster before covid, and now they are starting to re-open and it's truly a cluster.

Parliament is truly showing that they are not essential. JT is finally getting to run a minority government like a dictator.
The short pant boys in the PMO are loving this.

So, as someone in my 60's i'm thrown to the wolves? What about people with stage 4 cancer? Are they not allowed to try and have a life without hiding at home all the time because there are reckless asymptomatic people going wherever they want because THEY don't have a good chance of dying for Covid?

I’m with you bud, I’m not at risk but would be ignorant like some of the population to throw close to 1/3 of the population with health issues or over the age of under the bus because my risk is minimal. Beyond selfish and entitled are those folks and short sited. They may get it one day when their in the later years or maybe with a new health issue and a pandemic hits when there grand kids and or kids era toss them to the wolves. The effort put in so far has been immense by the greater population. Folks that have done nothing and continue on there way life as usual really need to be grateful and appreciative the rest of us are doing our part which in turn have potentially saved there butts by preventing transmission of covid. Not to mention the disregard for health care workers that I’m sure fear a surge in numbers potentially ending up on their door step on the back of many of their minds.

Yep that is pretty much what is being said. Glad to see several pages forward, and it's going full circle again. Protecting Canadians means everyone. Just like any war this country has been through.

A lot of the seniors are vets just keep that in mind. Think we owe to them personally. Hold the ******* line.
 
I think if you are concerned you probably should ask why a ferry going to nanaimo is 100% full with hours of wait time during a weekday.

Just FYI if you planning to go to the island in the June id book soon the ferry reservations are filling up fast.
 
No responsible or sane person would suggest that we kill off our elders, Aces. And a great portion (30-50%) of the younger age classes are often asymptomatic carriers in the few situations where they have done enough testing to tell. The example in the States is a poor, irresponsible one to follow.
 
If the younger and healthy generation (60 and under) don't go back to work and the economy continues to be on lock down there will be nothing to support the older generation.
 
and yet Bonni henry is allowing kids to go back to school june 1 with almost no measures in place. June 1 the caution tape around playgrounds will also be coming off and they will be open to kids.

According to all the teachers complaining on the radio they are lucky if they class will get hand sanitizer as some rooms don't have sinks.

Whats going on? does Bonnie not care about our seniors?

There are measures in place for return to school. As an example, the elementary school that my wife works at will have classroom instruction on Tuesday and Thursday only with a maximum of 50% of the student body allowed to attend. Nobody attends on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The kids who do attend 2 days a week do not have to do online work and those who don't will carry on with their online assignments. Those who attend will be required to wash their hands every time they are entering and exiting their classrooms. The school I am discussing has a sink in each classroom.

It is different for Middle School and High School but again, there are restrictions in place and it is not a free for all, where everyone is coming to the school at the same time.
 
I must admit to being impressed by the youtube presentation that SD72 (Campbell River) sent out very recently.
Models best practice behaviour, albeit slightly campy, I liked it way more than I thought I would.
My kids are in K and G3. Both will attend two days a week, Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday is a cleaning day, then the other half of the attending kids go Thursday and Friday.
We have to send a written health check form with the kids every day they attend.
I think there are seven kids in each (half) class.

I am just passing on a quote of stats I read. Just think its important as we continue down this road to be able to look at some of the things we have learned. If we dont do that it's like driving while staring at the hood ornament. I am not saying we throw anybody to the wolf's. Not at all!

I do think we need to switch from a mindset of "cant" over to "how" do we move forward.

By no means do I have the answers. I do think that we need to change.

We need to remember all the pepole who will suffer from these current measures. An example is my mother who has stage 3 COPD. She hasn't been able to see her specialist for over 3 months and is in bad shape. It looks like she is moving stage 4 and needs new treatments. Now that these facilities have started to open up there is such a huge backlog that she has another 2 months before she can see anyone. There are countless others in simular situations. Not to mention the huge influx of mental health issues that are not being properly addressed. Mental health needs to be at the front of priorities as all other health conditions. So many pepole are not able to get the treatment and support they need right now. Not to mention the new mental health issues pepole are now facing in light of the current lockdown.

Do pepole like them? Do they not matter?
 
Alberta will be letting the "state of emergency" expire on June 15th. I suspect it will be similar to Sweden's approach, but the focus being on protecting the vulnerable.

Again not saying how I feel about it, just passing along the update.

As I stated before I dont know the best answers.

That's the problem that virus is so catchy we have to be so careful to open up things in a measured and safe way or back to square one most likely with no help from the gov financially. Canadian's will be up sh*ts creek with no way out of financial collapse if there's a big up tick in cases. Even if restrictions didn't come back and there was a case surge the majority of people will not be doing leisure activities as normal and business will be dismal at best.
