Thinking about getting an AIS Receiver black box.. Has anybody bought one. Is there any one brand better that the other brands. I have Garmin electronics with Garmin 215 VHF. Should of bought the Garmin 215 AIS VHF.

get a vhf with ais receiver and n2k or nmea0183 it will be cheaper…..

l have all Garmin gear but went with the Standard Horizon GX 2200 ( now the GX2400) as it is quite a bit less money. Mine is hooked up via NMEA0183 and provides AIS data to my chartplotter. I still don't have an AIS transmitter as pretty pricey.
