Adjustable Halibut Anchor Setup?

Re-vamping the old anchor system and have been looking at switching to the Harbor/Trotac style setup with the line running from stern to bow. Being able to drop off anchor is a must, so electric pullers are out. Some spots I can only let out 200' but others we are anchoring in 280' and need to let out 600'

Has anyone modified or devised a way to make that style setup length adjustable?

I had the same as Kaelc and it was made at Trotac by Trevor. Hali fishing in Sooke can range from 60 ft at JR to 320 ft at the 320 hole also in JR. You don't want to be pulling 650 ft in 60 ft of water and specially in the fog. Average depth I fished at JR was 180 ft and 300 ft of line worked perfect.

If you have 650 ft of line you need to splice two eyes in the sinking main line where you shackle the 300ft and 350 ft lines together. The only problem you might have is, if the main line has been used a lot it is very hard to splice eyes into the used line. Make sure you get S/S sleaves spliced into the eyes and use a S/S oval screw lock shackle to connect the two lines and it will slide through the ball ring easy when pulling up. .

You don't need 2 lines , just let the line out thru your ball ring ,when you have out as much as you want take a loop of line from the boat side of the ball ring put it thru and over a separate ring and it will stop at the ball ring.

I got the idea of the splice basically. Little clunky, but should pull through a large stainless ring fine.

Ed... still trying to visualize that. So the extra rope just runs back to the stern? Put it all in a float bag?
