I have read a lot about the Ace Hi Fly on a number of posts - not necessarily connected with this lure.
I would like to find out a little more about their use, particularly rigging them, flasher types/colors, and favorite colors for various areas. I will be fishing out of Masset - Queen Charlottes so any info specific to that area would be appreciated.
What has your experience been using them???
I found some information at the Salmon University site - see link below.
Thanks in advance for any input and comments.

I haven't used the one I bought last year yet but Thanks for the article I forgot about that resource.

I notice they don't say anything about trolling speed, the Guy who works where I bought it said to try faster.

Ran one of them last weekend both Sat/Sunday-Got two springs both on 5 1/4 in Anchovy. Looks good will fish them again. Personal more of a off shore thing-Pretty tought to beat bait on the inside[8D]

I find you can almost never beat a good anchovy's in the right hands when things a slow & slam the hell out of them when fishing is great.
Just my thoughts
:D]

Two Words: Effin' DEADLY! Really. ;)
Cop Car version has outfished all the regular "go-to's" thus far, off the troller. I'll be buying more.

Cheers,

They work, but they sure don't last long.

Wrong. I actually only had one of the cop car versions (testies mode) when we hit Esperanza several (like 6) weeks ago. That same hootchie was re-tied about a dozen times. Caught somewhere around 40 or 50 springs on it (really) until one particularly large fish decided he needed it more than I did. Again, will be buying more...

Cheers,
Matt

I'm in Victoria. Does anyone know where I can buy some of these Silver Horde Ace-Hi Flys locally or up island?

Long live wild salmon!!!
><))))>

I haven't seen them in a store anywhere, near Campbell River so I ordered some online.
They look like mylar in a hootchie, haven't fished them yet though.

This type of "Flasher Fly" can be deadly offshore as Nog has indicated. Past years the "Trophy Flasher Fly" was a skinnier Needlefish version that absolutley rocked it during many months, especially July.
The Ace High looks awesome but a bit bigger version.

I have just recieved my order of "heads" and we will be custom tying these same flasher flies with a variety of materials like Polar Bear, Flashabou, Angle Hair etc. (Bucktail gets ripped up too quick)
We'll be setting on prism eyes and epoxying the head and wrap to make them last. (I don't believe in making custom flies, Bucktails etc. to fall apart so it drives more retail...) Make em last for many battles an old boy told me way back.

These will be available in our shop and can be custom tied and mail ordered anytime soon.
Heads are clear for now, and will have Blue, Glow and Chart as well ASAP.

Tofinofish are you using just the Injection molded lure heads that normally slide inside a hootchie or do you have special heads showing up?
Any chance I can see what you are using for the fly heads?

The heads that I have now are not the typical hoochie heads as they are much slimmer. I suppose they would work for Needlefish hoochies fine,,
They are not a fair bit smaller than the Ace High heads, to better match Needlefish, but not the small pinner type heads I was tying with years back, mentioned regarding the Trophy Flasher Fly.
They are approx. 1/4 inch wide X 2/3 inch long with front taper coming back to flat portion to tie material on.

I will try and get a picture posted soon to show some samples.

Nikka usually has them but call before you go I heard they were low on stock.

Yesterday I phoned Ted's in Lynwood and bought a half dozen-Mike</u> the mail order Guy said he'd have mine in the mail Tuesday-they're real busy with the long weekend there now.
