2026 Victoria and Oak Bay Reports

Was approx 14 lbs . 32x18x18 divided by 750 = 13.84. I’m not sure how accurate that method is but that’s what I’ve been using. Of course when I tell the story it gonna be a twenty pounder ;-)
Might be a math problem as 95 cm is 37.4 inches and mabe the girth was converted wrong? 95 m/2.54= 37.4 inches

That’s correct conversion from centimetres to inches.

If the girth factor was off the same amount as the length factor then with some quick math it would be: 37.5” x 21” x 21” = ~22#

My fish tub is 36 so the 32 in is likely correct as it was short, but it must’ve Been near 85 cm not 95. I need to get a quality scale on the boat this yr. I’ve seen how you can get roasted by over weighting a fish on a forum so I error on the light side hehe

After days of winds we got out onto the water today. At the Esquimalt launching ramp the news was that there were fish out at Constance. We got to the bank around 9:15, and counted 7 boats. I like to fish the edges of the bank and we did get a few bites but they were little more than shakers. Around 11:00 we got keeper #1 and then around Noon a much better result. The lure today was a white UV hoochie 24" behind the Madi flasher. Tried: herring, herring aid spoon, Mint Tulip hoochie, but it was the white hoochie that did the job. Fished in 100 to 150' of water and from on the bottom to 20 ft up. Currents were here and there, the tide table showed a long long ebb.

Lots of boats heading out to Constance this morning. A little to rough for me, so I stayed close. Fished Ross Bay, the Oak Bay Flats and the Gap. Got fish at all. Some nice fish in the mid teens, ALL clipped. 5" Tomic near the bottom got most. Large herring in stomach contents.

Salmon fishing Great!
Crabbing sucked.

Most boats got a few salmon fishing Oak Bay and outwards but we had to work for them. Mostly sub 10lbs this weekend. We also picked up a 97cm hali and several small lings kept us busy. Plugs out fished spoons. Surprised how few boats out on such a beautiful day.
