2026 Sidney Reports

My little bro (14) and I popped out to the Powder Wharf yesterday to jig through the current change. Marked a few and had one hit (75-85'), but that was it. Little bro pulled in a sole that we had as an appetizer later.

We wanted to fish the start of the flood as I figured that might be productive, but I have very little experience there. The other other boats left when the ebb finished ebbing. Is the ebb the tide to fish over there?

Where is the powder wharf? Is it the old wharf warehouse structure on Sidney Channel?

We fished Sidney Channel and around to Hamely Point today during the ebb. Caught & released one about 55cm, otherwise bupkes, Loads of bait south of Sidney I.

During the war years a CP ship used to load munitions there and later by barge for many years for CIL hence the name Powder Wharf. there is a lot of local history , including the island homes and residents of James Island. Some of these homes were barged to sidney and can be seen around the weiler area. The rail ramp is still operational and used to service equipment to the island by barge, including building the 10 hole Jack Nicholas course years ago. Yes, the Powder Wharf. Privately owned now.
Sidney Island had a Brick Factory
