2025 Victoria and Oak Bay Reports

gave the waterfront a go with Captain Donny aka @Original
Day started with Sooke like swells but no chop and fairly calm. Couldn’t coax the fish to bite, just a couple of kelp monsters!
Wind picked up the opposite direction of the swells and things got a bit hairy for crab collecting. We did well off the two pots with 5 keepers.
All the weather changes brought a pretty epic rainbow and there was a pretty insane superyacht rolled out of the harbour.
No fish, no regrets!

Any Salmon reports for Oak Bay? We might have a fishable weekend.

Be aware that Beach drive near Cattle point will be closed Sunday, roughly 8:20 - 10:30 for the Half Marathon.

Does anyone know if the currents will be good for Halibut this Saturday? It looks like near Albert Head the currents are slower than out in the strait? Any advice for a noob?
If you have someone experienced to anchor with, do. If not get to a spot just before the ebb ends and backtroll. Hali are bitting.

Caught 2 - 91 and 99cm. Got 3 springs, released one at Constance and got 1 Ling and a couple rock fish on the way into oak bay.

I think we were beside @Rayvon who was jigging?

Great day on a buddies boat

Finally got out today after a few weeks being too busy. Was going to take my boat out but my fishing buddy got up early and decided to get his boat ready so we could leave as soon as I got to the dock.

Trolled for salmon but no bites, pulled up gear and dropped anchor for hali. A few hours go by and not bites then we get one on and in the boat on herring with a green squid hootchie. As we were fishing the fleet of sailboats come by through the pack of hali fishers. Pulled up once the current was too strong to keep gear down and went trolling off albert head.

Missed a few bites, got hit by a few sand dabs, then got a decent clipped chinook in the boat. Landed on a WCFT Phat-E (still in good shape and last longer then any gibbs skinny G crap I've used in the past)

Headed in and put the boat to bed, cleaned fish and went home. Weather was nice, company was good. A very enjoyable west-coast day.
