2025 Ucluelet Fishing Reports

Tuesday morning tried Mara and got a couple small ones. Late afternoon was out front at lighthouse. Lost a few and released 3 small Chinook. Fish overall seemed small. Tried Wya for an hour with no bites. This morning tried Mara and releases a couple small Chinook then picked up and ran over to Cree. Within 2 hrs at Cree we got 3 mid teen Chinook. Got the last one to end the day by 11:30 with a double header. Brought both to the boat, netted the bigger one and released the other.

Was running flashers on the cannon balls and just lures on the lines. Wee G and Skinny G in No Bananas pattern.

Bamfeild side had much cleaner water which I think might be a factor.

Good to hear. We are on way to Ukee now. Looks like we are heading to Cree. Are you catching any hoes out there?

I just came back from secret beach. Not cree, but I was into a pile of coho yesterday morning (Fri). Boated 2 nice clipped pretty quick and released a bunch more after. Couldn’t buy a decent spring yesterday morning, though.

Went back to Wya yesterday. Much slower than Saturday. Seems fish may have moved on. Picked up 2 keeper Chinook and released 2 wild coho before one buddy started turning green. Went over to Foods for calmer water and lost one small one. Got one more decent Chinook at Bear and called it a morning. Heard Tofino light house has been good so those fish should show up soon.

Took the kids to wya yesterday so didn’t get out till 9 lost two screamers landed a 25# before my little girl got sick. I guess I need to stop pushing it with the kids.lol

Where is Wya? Looking at going salmon fishing tonight & first time at Ukee

It’s the shoreline tack from little beach to Florencia bay. Turn right coming out the harbor and follow the shoreline and you’ll see all the boats. Fish tight to shore and fish shallow

Easy limits at wya. All high teens to mid twenties. 48” plus leaders and 4” spoons. Worked for us this am. Irish cream skinny gee 3” gold nugget and herring aide all worked. 55’ was our magic but the last 22 #took it off the surface while we were bonking the last 21. Good action.

A few here and there for us in short excursions. Not hot, but okay. Saw a guy fishing the area you speak of while on a family walk on the bluffs once the fog cleared. Wished I could have traded places, but family first is what I think my wife wants me to say.

I was squiding off Japanese Dock last Saturday. Big schools came in starting at midnight. Between 2 of us we got about 150 in an hr. But the interesting thing is I saw either a Coho or Chinook swimming right by the dock in the light. Looked to be about 10 to 12 lbs. Must be fish going back to Thornton creek? Wondering if it's possible to try mooching in the harbour with the kid for fun. Anyone ever try the harbour for salmon?

Is the dark colouring some ink?

Do you eat these? I'm intrigued!

I saw quite a few marks on the sounder during the 7 mph run in and out last week. Singles and pairs that looked like salmon, especially closer to town.

Still springs on the beach. Its certainly slowed down but 5 of the last 7 morning tides we're productive for springs at Wya. Mix of bright and dark fish... lots of coho in the mix most days but an abysmal clip rate (none today). Here's 3 hours over today's morning low. Note the random Wya troll chicken.

Thanks for the report. Gotta love the bonus hali on the troll. Got that once closer to Flow island. I gave up on coho on the outside. They prob only clip 5% of the hatchery fish. I'll try to get out in area 23 the next few days and report back.

Iv got a work trip in Ucluelet on the start of October. Is shore fishing a option? And are the squid still in?
Dont really have the time or ability to hall up my Kayak.
