A fun day out of Ukee fishing solo. Big swell pushing 3m first light from the northwest opposite the SE wind. Eased over the day.
Water is chocolate. It seemed like the fish didn’t fight as hard, maybe because of that? Might be imagining.
I only fish one rod when solo, all at 65’ and swap between three lures/baits: white hootchie, spoon, herring in teaser. Avoids bottom, successful enough, and works with my limited brainpower.
Report: started at Little Beach first light running blue herring. Two lunkers right to the boat and threw the hook. I was pretty erratic trying to net in the swells, though. Trolled with swells toward Alley/Great Bear. Switched to hootchie and bagged a teener spring. Then a big wild coho. Switched to spoon and hit a high teen spring and another wild coho. Ten minutes later another high teen spring and I decided to stop bothering the fish and head home.
