2025 Port Renfrew Reports

What’s been happening in Renny? I’m asking for a friend… or should I say 3 friends I’m fishing with tomorrow

I've been gone for a few days and head back on Tuesday. It was good when I left on the beach for Springs. Lots of Coho mixed in somedays or just head out into 150' of water and you will find them. Halibut fishing was good as well. Lots of guys still fishing the Ranch but we were anchoring on the inside and did well. Crabbing is far from Port Renfrew good but with fresh bait and a bit of effort there are still some around. Good luck and post a report! lol

Going with a guide today and tomorrow! Checked out the boat at the dock last night and it’s a beauty.

Just jacked up to hear there’s fish around. Not sure if anyone knows, but I’ve been on a slump for like a year.
Who is your guide?

Good luck. Didn't know you were having issues.... Renfrew is great place 2 fish.

My brother fished the bank last weekend, they got their springs and Halibut easily.
They released several over's into the mid twenties, and finished with an 8lb hatch coho

Okay let’s start with day 1:

Bunch of yahoos we are!IMG_7730.jpeg
came up the night before so we could start the morning well rested.
Great clean accommodations at the lodge. 3 bedrooms and one has two beds so the math worked out.

Let’s get to the good part.
Met the guide Robin at the dock for 5:50am and hopped in a tank of a 30’ tinny.
we got good vibes that he was a genuinely awesome individual and we hoped his fishing abilities would match that. It’s the front boat:IMG_7733.jpeg
We made the trek in fog to the bank. Definitely not Sidney conditions… two of the guys had no probs but two of us got queasy. I got it the worst and tossed my cookies a bunch throughout the morning. Second time I’ve ever been sea sick and that was even with a preventative gravol.
In my defence I did not complain, did not think about leaving early and did not shy away from bouncing rod after bouncing rod.

We started with springs and got some beauties with really quickly. Mixed in a run of 3/3 all hatch coho and i lugged in a beauty ling. Not just any ling,
MY FIRST LING! So after maxing on slot springs, a few ho’s and a ling, we went to the ranch for Hali. That was CRAZY. Drop and doubled up twice off the bat and we had 4 nice Hali in like 10 minutes. Not just any halibut though, MY FIRST HALIBUT!

Then we went back for another ho or two and some great guide stories. A ton of fish which is great as my freezer is bone dry at home.

Back on dry land and feeling better I’m so grateful for this experience and the great dudes that are surrounding me. Thanks “dads!”

I’ll follow up tomorrow after day two with no slot and 2 per person Chinook! Also going after lings.

Stick around for that :)

Good luck everyone!

Glad to hear you’ve broken your skunk streak in a big way! Hope you’re learning some tips from the guide as well
