I still read a srkw closure at swiftsure am I that wrong?? I hate that closure,I’m looking for the truth is all
Info:senior dfo officer said they fly over swiftsure and estimate, estimate? Pressure/fleet size etc.thus the shrinking size limit, nothing to do with females etc.

point being this is called sport fishingb.c,I thought we share tips and info for all to enjoy
that is a commercial vessel with people on board winding, even the locale is secret lol
They will be like that today, tomorrow, tomorrow ,tomorrow ,everyday piles of fish.

No secrets lol, this time of year the ranch side is where people fish( only place you can keep salmon at swifsure) its been like that for the 20 plus years ive been fishing renfrew. Its kind of easy to find 20-30 boats fishing the area on any given day ( before all these new closure you can pick up salmon any where around swifsure) now only hali on the NE side is allowed

Is there a map that shows all these boundaries and closure on one page?
Have seen that for other areas and would be helpful.

After showing kids stizzla’s magnificent catches kids has been bugging me to go out to swiftsure. My boat doesn’t have radar and fogust isn’t very friendly for those without one. So look up market place on facebook and found a used ICOM radar. Picked it up on Tuesday and installed it on Wednesday. Original plan was to head out to Otter yesterday to test it out but decided to check over all fishing gear and boat then leave testing to today’s actual outing. After launching boat turn radar on and immediately it pickup the surrending and a guide boat that was leaving the marina. So venture out to swiftsure is officially on……. Okay It was delayed a few minutes due to washroom break. After leaving dock we proceed to set trap on the way out and in water between depth of 35’ to 55’ . WOW what a sight a single file of boats heading straight out of bay. And they were all doing roughly 32 knots!! As we were traveling parallel to the shipping lane we saw lots of finning. Initial thoughts were bait balls!! Then saw fish jumping here and there the colouration seems to be COHO!! It feels like we were boating in spawning channel. After an hour or so of travelling we saw chartplotter showing we were approaching fishing ground. Surely enough saw a pack of boat fishing right in front of us. We slow down swing north westerly started to troll parallel to the the pack. After setting up port side downrigger and rods as I was dropping down to 80’ (fishfinder showed a good number of sizeable fish between 40’-90’) felt a tag on the downrigger, i thought that can’t be floor is still nearly 200’ away. Looked up and the two rods lost tension surely enough as the kids reeled them in and realized both rods had fish on!! For the next 2 hours we were catching coho coho pink pink coho coho pink pink non stop. In that 2 hours not once i had the chance to setup all 4 rods. Even those that were left floating on top waiting to be clipped on and send down would get bitten!! So decided to change all into the large spoons instead of using coho killer or weegee. Yes it’s different now!! Instead of #4-6 coho and pinks it’s now #8+ coho coho pink pink. Just thought it’ll be like that all morning port side deeper rod popped of and fish ran!! Son had fun playing it and was able to land the fish with his sister’s help. It was a #14 red spring. They were really happy. As more coho and pinks were caught we changed up the two deeper rods to anchovy immediately we caught a spring and another. They weren’t big, (roughly #10) but nevertheless they were springs. We reset to SE corner 3 time got our limit of hatch coho smallest was #9. We still has one spring to go. Decided to troll towards NW corner instead of along the eastern open/closure line. For a short while there was no sign of fish or baitballs. As we hit the contour line 300-350’ we saw lots of markings at 90-120’. Lowered rigger into the range and bang port side deeper rod line went peeling. I grab the rod and could feel the weight and line still peeling out. After a few minutes of tag of war i finally got the fish to boat side and sure enough it was a spring. Son tried to net it and I saw the fish turn and tried to dive i yelled to son abort it was so close. If he was a split second slower net rim would’ve knocked the hook out of fish mouth. I was able to get the fish to make 2nd round towards to boat side but it was too deep so son had to abort again. Third time’s the charm. He landed it!! Son and daughter worked together to get the fish into the boat. Yup a #17 spring!! Okay it’s not a tyee but for all season long we’ve caught only low teens and shakers this is a big improvement.

We had our limit of springs and hatch coho kids wanted Hali so off to the border line. Oooof sticky floor. Lost 3 spread bar. Decided to head back. Next time may be will try jigging instead.

Oh oh at home when gutting, found a good number of small sablefish in the coho/spring stomachs. Is the area good for sablefish fishing?

Big plugs, to keep the coho and pinks away. Some years there is lots of sable around, but deeper 400-500 FOW

love swiftsure reports but is the beach dead? Swiftsure is great for numbers but want some size. Planning on running over and hitting camper Friday!

Good one day, not so much the other. Fish are moving with the tides, one tide is good then the next not so much. There is fish around but some days you have to grind. Oh there is good numbers of 20 coming from swifsure

Thanks yeah it’s been like that on our side of the pond too. Need a little rain to get these fish moving in!

This is meant to be helpful, not critical. I have two reactions to the Stizz report and pictures. One: Good for you guys. Fun and within catch limits, respect for the fish, no waste, everything we all strive for and the way most of us try to be.
Two: When we post pictures like these, the non informed but politically influential use them to hysterically persuade the non informed in “higher” places that the recreational fishery is raping the resource. I simply suggest we share the pictures with our friends and leave them and minute detail of our catch out of stories sent out on sites like this to which our “adversaries” have access. The amount of poorly thought out knee jerk public policy developed from graphic pictures and other such things in many areas of policy is staggering these days. Recreational fishing has been hit hard by this syndrome.
