I just got back from my second trip to Hardy. The last few weeks the NW wind has been an issue. I’m sure this has limited people’s ability to fish Sutil and the mainland side. June 1-7 I managed a day and night, at both. Sutil produced for us. We got our limit of nice 20lb class Chinook. Released a bunch of 10 lb class. Biggest was 25lbs. The fish all had needlefish in their bellies. No squid this year. June 12-16, we made it up to Sutil one day and night. Fished the high slack evening bite and had 5-6 doubles in a row. Fish were a little smaller this trip. Gaff released a lot of small chinook and got our 2 person limit again.

plans changed and we hit up hardy past weekend not kyuqout… fishing was great. The bit took a while Saturday and then for 1.5 hours was a frenzy of 12-21 pounders 20 hits about. The next day was consistent for longer. We just sat out at sutil and drifted towards the bank and back. Halibut came up as well. Limits for 3. Was refreshing. Seems the whole islands hit right now. Blurring faces as I didn’t ask buddies …. Heading back next week

Finally able to type again, wish I wore gloves when dressing the lings.
Launched at Bear Cove at 16:00 on Friday.
Pulled into Bull Harbour and some youtubers on a Grady said they had a night bite the previous evening at Sutil, away we go!
After some serious technical difficulties, we land a couple of 15 pounders. Proof of concept, so return them and we go back to Bull Harbour.
Saturday morning head out to Shuttleworth, slow, but look at those boats over at Sutil.
Roll in on the tide change and it was on.
A blur of chinook later, we have four beauties that made me thankful I took the time to service the MR2LA and put on a fresh topshot before the trip. Drunk on endorphins, we head over to Cape Caution and bring dozens of ling to the boat. Keep four nice table fare lingers.
Into Miles Inlet for the annual epic crap tournament. Three games within 4 points. Too bad I lost them all!!!
Back to the lings in the morning, three more nice ones. Looks like it is close to tide change at Sutil, back we go.
Just banging again. Fog was in, so less boats, but same mayhem. Caught my PB a 97 cm tank.
Worn out, we troll the Nahwitti marker with a large AP tackleworks Herring spoon, naked. Worked a charm for the chickens we are allowed to keep.
We are tubbed out and head back to Bull Harbour.
I think we horrified the youtubers with our savagely efficient display of fish processing. "Just where are you guys from?" "Campbell River" "Oh, that's nice..."
Rum and craps to top it off.
Well done North Island, another beauty Canada Day fishing trip.
All fish caught on our salmon rods, swim baits for ling, white hootchies for springs.
Poor neglected jigging outfits and spreader bars.
