2025 Port Alberni and Alberni Inlet Reports

When we first started using 1/0 black chrome hooks about 15 years ago, it didn't matter what flasher we pared them to. We used pink and green mist and eventually home made Oki moon jelly blanks we got at PNT with silver crystal flash tape. Everything worked. It was the magic of the black chrome hooks. I think we used 27" leaders then. Didn't really matter. jc

Hello. On a different topic. I am planning to launch at Clutesi on August 10th at 8 am. The tide will be a negative at that time. …..extreme low tide.

Will i be able to get my boat in the water at that time ?

I have an 18 footer.

Thoughts/advice from Members on what i can expect as I launch at the Marina ?

I hope you can advise. Much appreciated.

I have asked this question as well. The response was no problem. Stay within the green bouys next to shore. Mind the markers on the way.
I have launched my 21 with no issues at low tide without issue.

Not true! There are some serious divots in that ramp. As always, scope it out before rolling your trailer down.

True that.

I launched there literally several hundred times.
When the tide is low, it is a NO-GO!
The holes in the concrete at the end of the ramp are HUGE and will disable most trailers.
Only good on a mid to high tide IMO.

Cheers

No idea these days as haven’t launched there in past 5 years but did it for several years each summer up to 2020. Sorry for inaccurate information the guys that live there know current conditions.

Headed to China Creek for the weekend on Thursday night. Reports have been slow and I don't see a lot of boats on the Webcam? Socks will be the main target, but is there any point in bringing the gear for anything else, if we don't intend to make the run to the Sound?
We were out there on the 18-19,20 hardly any bites, lost 3 got zero. Going to Renfrew for Spring now, this weekend. Let me know how you do!

Try in San Mateo Bay. I believe last year at this time it was a decent spot and fish were holding in there. If not then you'll likely have to run in closer to China Creek.

Someone just told me that Sockeye Fishing is closed as of Thursday at midnight. I think DFO really screwed up this time. Where are all the Fish
