2025 Nootka Sound/Esperanza Inlet Reports

We picked a spring up at beano around 10am, saw a few more picked at the same time then nothing. Think we might have been late to the party after working around wash/maquinna all morning with no luck.

Headed offshore and grabbed a couple ling and 4 rockfish.

4 springs inside? The fish must have settled in as we trolled the wall/camel/hoiss most of yesterday with a quick run to wash/lighthouse (think we missed a bite there too...?) with out a sniff on spoons, hootchies or anchovies...I'm no pro but its been long time since I got skunked after spending and entire day in the water.

Glad today went better, 2 days left to get 3 springs. Hoping for some halibut tommorow.

Probably just head straight out and hit beano for tide change the. Head out for Hali and Ling's.

doug78, it's a 8.5 ft high tide at 1000. Don't drive by fish in the morning while enjoying your coffee, there's a pile of fish off Maquinna.

Make a few passes there on the 70 foot line with your downrigger at 90 feet (yes they are on the bottom in the sand) as they are eating all the bait off the mud. If the bait is not there after a few passes, troll down the same line down to the Dinosour before Beano. If you see a bunch of bait make a few passes before getting to Beano. Then do the same at Beano on the bottom, the fish are eating the sandlance and needle fish off the bottom.

Good luck.

That’s some solid advice right there!
