I friend of mine got a slime eel. Are they common on the inside waters?
No but empty traps are common, in spots that use to produce well.I friend of mine got a slime eel. Are they common on the inside waters?
Definetly slower prawning this year versus last year. Nice ling though!!!!!Beauty day for Ling opening. Had a nice one in no time.
OTOH prawning near Schooner Cove sucks.
Very good to hear. Were you at French Creek?Went out last Friday to sample the fishing. Good spring fishing, a few nice ones brought to the side.. but I have to report the amount of Coho out there was insane. Fins all over the surface in some spots, jumpers, lots of action, was amazed.. and mostly 4-5 pound size so will be a good June coming up and should see them pack on some good weight by september.
Between french creek and ballenas there were a few thick schools on the surface, and lots of hits on rods higher up.Very good to hear. Were you at French Creek?
I did a little practice jigging out at Sangster and Ballenas and it was slow. I was mostly running the boat to get used to the motors and autopilot system but did try jigging for a bit. Didn’t see much bait at either location either.
Fishing the humps? How deep for coho?Lots of hatch coho out there. Quick hour and a half. Limits caught, released 3 mid teen springs. Spoons and flash flies.
Ballenas area, 60 to 70 ftFishing the humps? How deep for coho?
I had 2 instances yesterday of coho taking my plug on the surface before I could even send the ball down. Unfortunately not clipped. If you are deeper than 50’ you will catch too many chinook. Even if you are very careful, you are doing the damage. Best to stay shallow…45’ or less. If you troll fast, you will find them. I would say 25% are clipped.
What's your definition of trolling fast?If you are deeper than 50’ you will catch too many chinook. Even if you are very careful, you are doing the damage. Best to stay shallow…45’ or less. If you troll fast, you will find them. I would say 25% are clipped.
