Pretty sporty conditions this morning but we toughed it out and put in a 10hr shift at the fingers today. Fishing was consistent all day. Never more than 15 or 20 minutes without some action. We released 15 or 20 wild coho and kept 4 hatchery and 1 chinook. Additionally we lost at least a dozen fish that never made it to the boat but it was worth it to introduce a new fisher to the sport. I think he is hooked.
I have to ask a question though: The number of people I witnessed netting their ho's to ID on board and then discard if they are wild left me dumbfounded. Based on the amount that I am witnessing it is obviously a pretty standard practice, possibly even peeps here on the form believe in it. Am I missing something, it seems ludicrous.
Anyways, get out there, plenty of fish to be had. Enjoy the resources while it is passing through.
