2025 Gulf Island Reports

Well I can’t seem to scratch up a spring over there this August, put in another couple good efforts Thu-Sat. Missed a really nice one today in Active, shook off after a 10-second scream. Teaser head came up cracked head and wire all mangled up.

Switched gear to target all the jumpers, hoping they were sockeye but brought a few pinks to the boat. Finally bonked one pink and took off back home.

Fished Tumbo Island this weekend. Arrived at 530am. Action was constant. Picked up a chinook around 6:00 it looked legal but skinny and not worth keeping. Picked up a 70cm at 110ft on a wc skinny g by about 700am. I noticed a wild coho at 100ft. So both lines to 100ft and blue spoons and picked up a couple hatchery coho. That was around 1000am. Then I decided to troll across the straight in area 18. I was shockingly getting into consistent coho and pinks action on sockeye gear. In the middle of the straight. Some nice sized pinks. Then I got into a sockeye double header and landed one. (Pretty sure it's a sockeye but I was questioning weather it was a chum as i don't see many sockeye)Meat was red, fought like a sockeye. Great day.
