Rivers warming up... a few boats out around Cranston today. We will start fishing tomorrow.

Fishing in Seaforth Channel is good. Idol Point is producing reasonable numbers of springs and coho. As we are up here for a couple more weeks, we only keep a couple in the freezer and rest as table fare.

Nice, had to adjust my trip timing but current plan is to be into Bella Coola July 23 and fishing the 24th!

That’s a great trip! I’m sure you will love it! Those regulars that hang around that big tent are a friendly lot and a good resource

Don't get too hung up on fishing the head. It can be glorious but a lot if times it's soul crushing.

You are right. 9-3 to 9-9 non retention. End of an era. Most people don't keep up there but I think this about reducing pressure for local interests. Sad

Yup, used to be 9-5 and up and no DR's... seems to be creeping down.
Still plenty good fishing though.

This is the first year of non retention now in a large area of Rivers inlet. Up until now it was 2 per day. I'm sure a lot of people got blindsided and will be reassessing their plans.

So 2 hours of boating out from the lodges to where they can keep fish, 3 hours of fishing and 2 hours back all for a mere 2K?

The lodges are all out in the non restricted areas

While these debates about closures and retention areas are important, this thread is meant for fishing reports. People come to the reports threads now and in the future through the archived area looking for this information. Discussions regarding closures should be had in a separate thread in the conservation/fisheries politics section of the forum.

Imagine it will free up some space at Dawsons.

We will be up in our 27 Whaler "Hull Pass".
Leaving Bowen Island Jul 24 for the two week trip.
Potentially first heading to Aristazbal / Campania islands, Maybe as far north as Hartley bay for fuel. Definitely hoping to fish Chaney for a few days if the fishing is on there as we've had great success there in the past. A lot obviously depends on weather and fishing conditions. We don't plan on fishing Rivers.
Do you guys that are heading up in that same time frame want to share your boat names and agree on a radio channel for chat? 69?
