Yes, seiners, gill netters and trollers all get a crack at the sockeye. It will be a travesty if we don’t get an opportunity- for the past 2 days the Area 12 test boat has caught over 25000 in only 5 sets both days.Seine boats heading north thru the narrows…
Looks like the commys have a limited sockeye opening in area 12 and 13.
could mean an opportunity for rec sector
Red flasher -pink or red squirt-28" tie ?? where and what depth is usual around here--inquiring minds want to Know LOLPosted an hour ago, 4 Sox per day starting Saturday ending midnight on the 24th
I prefer green flasher myself - very small hootchie - I use only 3 strands of pink with black hook on 32 inch tail. Slow trollRed flasher -pink or red squirt-28" tie ?? where and what depth is usual around here--inquiring minds want to Know LOL

They tend to eat zooplankton (I.e. small and drifting feed). So trolling faster with herring or needlefish lures not typically used or successful. Small pink, bubblegum, skirts with shorter leaders and slow troll. Or some folks just troll plain black hooks even. I.e. less is more behind the flasher for sockeye. They can be funny. Early morning sunrise when sun first hits the water bite can be lights out usually and then can just go quiet… taunting you and jumping all around…you just never know. Depends on how they are schooling (commercial seiners upstream of you tend to really split up the schools and slow the fishing). Been 10 years since I fished the Fraser sockeye run, so who knows, might all be different this time, and opposite to what I outlined. Can we use skinny g’s on these things? I’ve never fished them before
done ok at Race pt. but has to be last few minutes of the ebb and first push of the flood and then they are long gone to VancouverDoes anyone ever fish sox's south of the narrows?
