Went out yesterday (Tues) - after all that rain wasn't hoping for much but it looked like a decent day on the water so headed out. We ran down from Cheanuh to Secretary but it looks like ALL the salmon all got a whiff of their home turf because we couldn't find any except for a load of jack springs that hit as soon as we put he gear down. Must have picked up 15 or so, lost count.
Thought there might still be one or two stragglers but no dice. Only saw one other boat off Sooke harbour although did see a kayak in the bay around 2. No trailers in the parking lot, just ours.
I guess that's it for a while.

should be getting feeder springs out there now

Not many reports lately which is understandable but was thinking of going out of Pedder tomorrow for a few hours just to get on the water. Has anyone had any luck out front in the bay or maybe preferable to shoot up to Whirl Bay??

One guy said there are springs out at Constance - haven't heard if they are at Whirl bay yet ...let us know

Fished Pedder and Whirl today. Kept a 6lber at Pedder and released 3 others in the 3-4lb range. On the bottom in 80ft of water. Kept 4 out of 14 keeper crab from 2 pots.
Released 4 fish in the 3-4lb range in Whirl Bay. On the bottom in 110-130 ft of water. All fish on spoons, Skinny G and Cop Car.

Fished yesterday for first time in long time. Fished whirl but saw very little bait. Caught a few under size around the tide change. Then went back to Beecher Bay where we had seen birds and bait on the way out. Released a couple more unders and kept 1 around 6-7lb. 3 nice dungees in the traps. Nice to get on the water .

Dropped a couple of traps in Pedder Bay today and trolled around for 3 hours. Only 1 hit that didn’t stick as I was trying to avoid a bunch of crap in the water and it was gone before I got to the rod. Just before calling it quits, a 5-6lb salmon jumped 3-4ft in the air about 10-15ft from the boat. It did this 4 times in a row. It was either wishing me a merry Christmas with a Ho Ho Ho or laughing at me because my gear was on the bottom and it was saying Ha Ha Ha. Only 1 keeper crab so I left them to soak overnight.
