Never caught any here in Nanaimo. Guess i'm not fishing deep enough?

Got out on Saturday, glad we took advantage of the weather, turned out to be a great day on the water with my Father and a couple of the kids...

Got some keepers in the crab pots, shallow pots didn't produce anything? but we had a couple sets in 80 to 100ft of water and they did pretty good. Set out a couple rods to test the kicker and downriggers (and learn how to work them), but no luck with any bites... I've got alot to learn about Downriggers and salmon fishing... lol

As it was mostly a "learn the new boat" trip, there was a lot of trial and error, but certainly wouldn't trade the time out there for anything... Had a great day, Boat ran and drove fantastic, toured Wallace Island and Princess Cove area with the kids.

All in all, great times... Looking forward to many more...

Fished just outside porlier pass yesterday targeting lings. Never hooked one but landed and released six small springs biggest was 85cm. Normally fishing for Salmon and usually catch lings, go figure.

Spent a couple hours jigging out front. Found a few nice fish in 120ft of water north of hudson rocks. Bait is small, 2 oz delta half jig was the ticket

Anybody get out today? Thinking about going tomorrow now that the wind is down but not sure how hot it will be. Can’t imagine it would be worse than being on land and feeling like your in the Mojave desert.

Yeah. I fished the Gabriola reefs for lingcod and zero. Prawning was frightening. My spot got absolutely hammered this year. Everything wiped out. It was great day on water though beats sitting at home.

I didn’t check the forum last night.

I just got home, was awesome out there this am. A nice 8 knot nw breeze and a 6 inch ripple.
Decent bite 7:30 to 9
