2012 TUNA trips

I will be in Vancouver tomorrow. Anyone know where to shop for Tuna gear over there?

I would call a few of the spots first but I would think your best bet "may" be Berry's (I kind of doubt it) but you may do better at Nikka or Pacific Net and Twine. Definitely before running all over the place out in Richmond where these 3 retailers are I would give them a buzz. Right in Vancouver I doubt any of the shops are going to have much for you unless by some fluke Army/Navy had some stuff.

Hey Harper....just read back and saw that you're towing over to Ukie on Friday morning; check with Pacific Net and Twine in Parksville as well. It's right on your way and you just cut off on the exit to take you through Coombs and it's on your left side a short way down the road.

pacifc net and twine should have everything you need. They have all of the hooks and clones, Nikka will also carry the clones. I am not sure if PNT will break up the 10 packs of zukers you will have to ask. Derby at PNT could probably help you out with all that stuff at their coombs location.

PNT in Parksville as a good selection of zukers and clones. The have a mixed bag box with lot's of singles in there and some opened bags as well. The have all the line, crimps, hooks, etc. as well as lot's of birds, splashers, and planer boards. The have lot's of jig's or irons for casting as well.

In Vancouver I have heard Nikka is the place. Once your in Ukee I have heard that Pioneer Boat Works stocks quite a bit of stuff as well.

Right on guys. I will try nikka as I've never been there. I will stop in at PNT in parksville tomorrow also on my way to PA. Anyone ever seen outrigger release clips anywhere? Charkbait has really dropped the ball on my order.

Never seen outrigger release clips for sale anywhere here in BC sad to say.

Charkbait is very hit 'n miss-stopped using them for that reason.

After cursing charkbait all afternoon my wife calls to tell me I have a FedEx pickup slip on the door. They must have overnighted my order because when I called and tore a strip off of the poor kid just yesterday the order still hadn't left the warehouse. Sometimes that works I guess. Although I better open the package before I claim victory!

Things are looking good. Chloro is way down, temps are there. I am hoping for close blue water.

Sunday is looking like "the day" to me. Plus we 'mericans get Monday off. So I plan to be out at the usual spot towards the end of Juan de Fuca canyon Sunday. I'll monitor 16,68 and 69. Boat name "Meant to be".

So I have been following the terrafin sst shots for the past few days and it looks like it will be game on this weekend! We have 60+ water 50miles off tofino and its starting to clear up and get really blue from the patches I have seen. We will be heading out in the dark saturday morning.

Saturday looks a bit breezy but doable. Sunday looks great. Finally subscribed to Buoyweather. I don't know why I didn't sooner. Great site and thanks Shawn for recommending it.

We decided to sneek out this morning. Got to the tip of clayoquot canyon and saw a tuna boat with its gear out. Who could resist? Not us, lines out. Not five minutes in, bam, triple header! Caught 7 fish in total. Ran out out the ammo dump circle to find some blue water but no such luck, fished green water all day. Saw 4 or 5 tuna boats past the ammo dump on the radar but the skiper on my boat did. Of want to go that far. Twice today we saw fish jumping and turned on them and hooked up! Typing this on my phone as we grind home.

looks like we should have fished loudoun canyon. It sucks to go fishing with practicly no data due to days of cloud cover and come home to see that we were not in the best location.
