2004 25hp Mercury Mid section

Hey Guys

I have a 2004 Merc that needs a new mid section. The main rotating tune is seized up and complete junk. Are there places that might have used parts for these things? The power head and lower gear box is in really good shape so would like to try and save this one.

On the other hand is there any value in the power head and other parts. Any idea what it might bring?

So the swivel tube. That one is a major. Everything has to come apart. Powerhead off. Leg off. Lower pan off. Swivel bracket split apart. Build an outboard again after. 5 grand gets you a new one. If it can't be saved

Tell ya what, you wanna save that old girl without breaking the bank? Drill a 5/16 hole in the top of the swivel tube and one on the bottom portion. Drill through the casting until you hit the steel tube. Load it up with fluid film and heat it up with a torch. And watch the crap pour out of it. Rotate back and forth the whole time

It’s already apart but the replacement parts are no longer available or are crazy expensive. This is a motor from a friends dad. two years ago he stripped the gease nipple and didn’t bother fixing it. It’s is rusted beyond repair.

Probably best to just sell it off for parts.
