1981 Double Eagle gets a second chance

I made it from 1/4 inch marine grade plywood. Let it soak up as much epoxy as it wanted then finished with a layer of fibreglass over top of that. The hatches I got off Amazon 18”x 21”

The wife and I enjoyed a little run up Great Central Lake for some R&R. Nice to just anchor and enjoy the quiet.

Not sure if this is good or bad but pics were taken at a speed of 27.8 mph that should equate to approximately 3.5 mpg and at 33 mph she is getting approximately 2.75 mpg at 4600rpm this is for the Twin Mercury 115 with standard gear case.

3.5 running twins is pretty damn good in my opinion. The best I ever got with my Pursuit 2470 with twin 150 Yamahas was 2.6 mpg

8 gph is pretty good

Took my dad fishing then today I added a third access door so I can have easier access to the bilge and the fuel system.

Got the boat cleaned up today. Also purchased some new wiper motors but have yet to put them in. A little update on the lack of posts. Nov I had a major jammer after i went for my usual run at Westwood Lake. Felt the pain start but did not recognize it as a heart attack. Drove home had a shower and things were going down hill fast so I called 911. Very glad I did as the first team to arrive found me dead on the couch. CPR and a couple hits from the defibrillator and back to life. Best we can tell I was gone for about 6-7 mins. It took a couple months for the cracked ribs and lungs to heal up from the CPR so the boat was ignored. The sunny weather has got me back in the mood and I plan on doing a lot of fishing this year.

Glad you made it!!! That’s a close call. What a story. You have a new lease on life, and an awesome boat. Spend as much time on the water as you can.

Dam. That is a close as it gets. Hats off to ambulance crews, I took one fishing when he was boatless, great guy.

I am doing great now. Some of the medication I am on that slows my heart rate limits what I can do as far as getting back to running any distance or pushing myself at the gym. I only need to be on them for a year then I should be good to go. My wife does not want me making any solo Bamfield trips for a while so friends and family will be forced to come fishing. Hahaha.
