I was working there yesterday from 10 AM to 3PM. As I arrived I noticed this yacht out in the middle with smoke pouring out of it. It slowly blew in towards shore and finally stopped near the Sea Span dock. I don't know if it was anchored at that point by the Coast Guard or if it ran aground. When I left at 3 PM there was still a ton of smoke pouring out of the boat. It would appear that there is nothing in the area that is equipped to fight a fire on a larger size boat. I wouldn't be surprised if it burned to the water line. At no time did I ever see flames, only large amounts of smoke. The Coast Guard was pumping water onboard the vessel, but it was only a smaller type hose. Sad to see this vessel destroyed.
