WTB: Islander MR2

Hey folks. Wanting to buy an Islander MR2. Any of you have one kicking around in good shape you aren't using? If so send me a pm. Thanks.

Pippen: yes, I replied to that post but the fellow isn't responding….maybe sold but I don't know. r.s. Thanks for the link…but prefer an MR2 with the free spool.

Thanks to both of you for the help.

But but but ....what about the large arbor for when a fish runs at you :D

Just kidding.. to each their own... both reels have their pros and cons.

mr2 large arbor I think they been on sale quite a bit over the holidays at cabelas etc. I got into mr3 just before they mr2 large arbors came out :( oh well either way never been in the islander club and wanted to step it up and treat myself. I haven't run into the issues ppl have mentioned with the mr3's ie. line creep. But hey they're new so who knows maybe it will happen this season here's to hoping not.

I just replaced my MR3's with the new MR2LA's (large Arbor) so far I really like them,
so much smoother then the MR3 in my opinion

The MR2LA still has the same diameter as the the original MR2 - so if you have it loaded with backing and mono there is no benefit to the new one... and they don't look as good, and it's all about the looks

Haha I didn't want to be the one to burst their bubble, but the mr2la does have the same diameter as the original mr2 so there is no increase in line pickeup speed when compared to an original mr2 that was spooled full with backing.

At least that is my understanding.

Thanks to all of you for the help and to those who PM'ed me. I will have to wait on the LA model will have to wait until its second hand…..though that would be nice. Hopefully my search will end soon.

When with the Hardy 12000 sds reel this year. 13" of line per crank. 5 1/4 spool. Not sure if this will replace the Colton but I might have an islander for sale.
