WTB Frost Mora 299 knife

Looking for a Frost/Mora 299 Fish Gutting Knife with Wooden Handle, Spoon and 4.6-Inch Stainless Steel Blade. This was a pretty common knife on commercial boats at one time. I've seen the plastic handle version around, but not the wood handle. If you got one sitting all lonely, let me know...or if you've seen one at a fuel dock store.

At least you have a couple...might want to retire one to the display rack. Redden CR said they haven't had them since 2020(ish) and the Mora takeover of Frost axed that rosewood handled model. Sad.

sorry dude, i could have sworn i saw them in there not long ago. is it the blade profile you like, or the wooden handle? i would t be hard to knock off the plastic handle and put on a wooden handle. mind you i’m a hobby knife maker; it’s not hard to do tho

No worries...good lead, and they could have had old-stock recently. The reply I got just mentioned they hadn't had a price update since 2020 and Mora probably axed them...and a reply from Mora confirmed they discontinued them.

Yes, the blade profile and handle fit. The plastic handled 299P, or even the Dexter version, is just fine, but handle is bulky (and yes...the next step will be the grinder...I've got an old 9152P 6" with worn blade that has the 299 profile in sharpie!). So just the esthetics of the wood handle version appeals to me. Maybe a bit of nostalgia....seine boat deck-hand in my youth...always liked that knife and wish I'd snagged a few.

Ultimately, the never ending pole-vaulting over mouse turds...sitting at work, wishing I was fishing. (But I still want one).
