Cheers,

I have a couple of IBM Think Pads here...probably overkill for your situation. It will take me a couple of days to scrub the hard drive and such but it does come with battery and carrying case. $250.00

Let me know...

What you really should have, is a 10 inch note book. I am using a 15 inch lap top, and wish I had a note book! Takes less room on the boat. Use Nobletech (sp) with my GPS, and an inverter to power the lap top. Good luck with your search..........BB

Thats the same sort of set up ill be using but with garmin bluecharts. Ive got a huge big dash so room isnt an issue, but I was thinking of a netbook but i like the larger screen on a laptop, especially when standing away from the helm on the back.. depends on what deal comes along i guess!

Hopefully Last Chance might have something up his sleeve for me [8D]

Do you have a power inverter, so you can run plug-in power? Once the batteries go on old laptops, you can get them pretty much free.

Given brand new low end ones are $400-500 now, you shouldn't pay more than $200 for good one 3-4 years old. For a beater I'd aim for $50-100 ... that way it's "disposable" without too much pain once the salt gets into it.

Craigslist and usedvictoria ... they are out there, just have to find it.

I inherited an old Panasonic toughbook from a friend. I see them going on ebay for $75-100.

Good hunting!
