Well I guess it's time to start a build thread, watching the others. Fiberform 22.5'. Looking for no upside down pics. thanks Pulled the sterndrive out, Chopper gun boat but looks solid and dry. Drilled into stringers and foam and transom and not rotted. So it goes a pod with a 225 Optimax. Engine low hours and needs a leg so might do Chinese. Looking at ideas re: lengthing the fish deck. I think I have 4' open now, I could get another 24 to 30 inch open. Angle slice, cut 28" back.
Three or four guys could stay dry with 6 to 7 foot open in the back. Already removed the fly bridge.
Just a cut same angle as window like 2" and just a little 7' seam. 6 to 7 foot open deck hat do you think is it worth it? Going to need pot puller.

So not much left of the bolts that hold the hull to the top, I was just going to remove them and glass the two halves together. Was noted all should be replaced on last survey.
Nothing left of three windshield hold down bolts, (lots of silicone) I assume I need to raise the roof to replace them. Stainless T bolts?
Through hull transducer mounted under captains seat, good place for it?
Cut two feet out of the roof for more open area? Going to need room for a pot puller and such. Another 24 to 30 inches open on sides would be nice I think. Don't need more work however I feel it might be worth it. Day boat imo!
Feeling toilet probably important and will keep it in the cuddly, I thought you needed a tank now? However see other builds without. Aware of dumping regs.
Fuel tank looks decent shape,replaced once. Think I calculated around 30 gallons. Have another 24 gallon I can mount where engine was.
Any ideas and opinions appreciated! Bill

I am kicking myself a little bit over not installing a holding tank. But I have a space for one next to the head. Winter 2020 project.

I'll try to ask questions as they are coming up in the build.
Finishing bolting pod in and reinforcing transom so next is pod for kicker. It's just a 98 long leg 20" 15 hp evenrude. It would be nice not to have to tilt it but would the prop be low enough. Should go float it and see how it sits I guess.

Fuel tanks. The one sitting in there is 45 gal, I have a good 29 gal easy fit where engine was for 74 gal total. Should I install it?

I would install the tank, mine has a 60 gallon and its allways nice to have extra, or a fish hold.

Plywood shims dried out enough it was easy to pull the gas tank. I think when manufactured they put 2 cross beams in,all glassed in and cut the middle one out. They just hacked it out and covered it with sikaflex or somthing similar. Front one was crooked so I pulled it out, it had sealer on it too.
I guess the most amazing thing is that once again everything is dry and solid! Must be living right!
My wife had to go to CT so she's picking up some Armour Thane epoxy. On sale for 60 and I'll add some bumps for flooring surfaces. Ugly grey but....

So back from island and working on boat now. Pod bolted on, so. More room on deck or more shelter? Alaska bulkhead or open? New tank so how many gallons? Big swim platforms, kicker mount, ladder in the works.
I expect it spends most of its time closest to Jordan River.
Is it to mean to use the upholstery and original seats and have some sideways benches?
Lock box seat cabinets, lockable cuddly, wanna Moore it.

Went with fir plywood and framing for the swim platform. Top and bottom hull attachment bolts were corroded and loose so glassing it together. Thinking bench seating original cussions on port side, lockable storage underneath say 24" X 66" X 18" high.

So does anyone want paper charts anymore? So not really related but kinda because they came with the boat. Sell, shread, laminate? Pretty tightly wound and I don't know if I would use them, they are all around Campbell river and Haida guay.

I always keep paper charts on the boat-even though I have 2 independent plotters

I always keep a paper set on board.
1) I like to see a larger view of new to me areas.
2)Murphy's law says The day your plotter goes out is the one time you dont have paper charts.

So how big did you end up with your fuel tank.?

Taking advantage of good weather so fiberglassing, bolts holding the top of the boat to the hull corroded and loose so removed them and fiberglassed them together, going to do the rub rail with hdpe strips.
Tank is a winter project so I will pick up a 4 x 10 sheet of 1/8" 5052 aluminum a for a 22 x 11 x 60 for about 62 us gallons or 52 imperial gallons. I would have to buy 2 4 x 8'sheets to go any bigger adding about $150 in materials. I also have to save up for a fresh tank of argon.
Deal with the charts later.

Weather is nice and trying to get stuff done!
Gunnel rub rail attaching hull to top had atttachment bolts pretty rotten, some missing. I decided to remove it, glass the two pieces together and picked up enough hdpe plastic 1/2" x 2 1/4" x 38" strips to do the boat for $40. It's still going to be bolted 1/4" NC stainless every 12". Cheap, simple, effective and while not pretty.... functional
In keeping with simple and cheap I built seat boxes that will have a flip up pad lockable seat lid at the rear. Original upholstery doesn't look bad so good enough! Two forward facing with backrests and benches behind.
Ended up blocking the limber holes so sealed everything off, still have to decide what else I will do there.

FedEx showed up today. I'll have to get opinions on prop.
Low budget but should work, yellow paint was free, just to seal.. flip up lockable benches. Figure about 700 lbs flotation too!
