I know this is a sportfishing forum but just happened to come across this commercial trolling video and really thought it was quite good. There is a young fellow maybe 15 ? setting lines/pigs etc and gaffing Chinook ( and processing) with such efficiency.....very impressive little guy working his butt off throughout the video. They guy is an inspiration to all the young'ins and work ethic as far as I am concerned.

Couldn't stop thinking the "Nog" would be impressed with this young guys abilities.

Yeah, that is pretty sweet... Restores a lot of memories.

Wish I worked on a boat that nice when I was 15...;)

Wish you worked that hard on my boat...;)

seriously that kids a ROCK STAR; he'd put most of us to shame...where's my Nintendo :)

Great vid. Thanks for posting. It gives someone who hasn't worked on a trolling boat a really good insight into the daily regime. That boat is rigged up a lot nicer than some. That kid is a hard and smart worker. He was very methodical in his actions and wasn't rushing etc. Paced himself through a long day. Less accidents happen that way and everyone goes home happy at the end of the day :).

Great scenery and whale shots as well:cool:.

Very cool!! Thanks for posting that up!

Question....at 8:55 what are they doing? Bleeding a fish out??

Looks like the same trick FA showed me by blowing water down the spine with the wash down pump. Pretty cool and great product as an end result.

Nice to watch someone do things right. That has got to be one of the cleanest and organized boats I've seen.

surprised Dire Straits gave You Tube license to use Money for Nothing. I know a lot of people who have had their videos blocked because of music rights infringement. Would have liked to have seen the kid with some type of floatation devise. The flushing of the spine is done at a lot of Lodges. Brian Hilliar (Naden Lodge" showed it a few times on "Nice Fish" A commercial trolled fish is a quality fish. Too bad our Troll fleet has been close to being eliminated where as the Alaskans have cornered the market on Troll caught Kings

Any chance you've had the camera rolling and could post a video of this technique John? I read the article and watched the video posted but I haven't quite put the technique together....sounds like it is the way to bleed your fish.

Ill do a video next time I have a fresh one.

I take the the head off leaving the colier on the fish and slice and break its tail and fold underneath keeping the tail with the fish for transport.

The key is to leave the belly untouched, guts in

Put hose onto the main vien between the kidney and the back bone. The blood from the entire fish will come pouring out the tail.

Cleanest table fish ever.

Now remove the guts and kidney and your done.
