I'm looking forward to it again, been in for over 20 years.Same old boat, different crew,my favourite derby.Lets hope some big fish show up and the winds cooperate.Rayvon
For those not in the derby, fishing Sooke's waters this weekend virtually guarantees you a big salmon ... because that's how Murphy's Law works. Luckily for me I'm out of town ...
Im gonna try and get out for butts one of the days. It just so happens I have to work sat/sun Mornings starting at 5am at Pedder Bay Marina! How ironic to have to work when I want to fish Going to be tough to see those fish coming in. If you see me covered in floor leveler in a camo hat. Say Hi!
You guys should check out the new regs effective Saturday June 19.
Believe the western boundary has been moved from Sheringham to
Jordan River. You will then be allowed one over 67 cm either wild
or hatchery clipped (but not two hatchery as before). This is
in effect until July 15 after which regs revert back to traditional
limits of 2 per day over 45 cm.
quick question, do the rules say the boat can keep one legal fish per ticket, or per person on the boat... what if a boat with two tickets had 5 guys on board, could they keep 5 fish and weigh in two? I mean it could be a disadvantage to the guys with two per boat...
Most people who go fishing will have a ticket and im sure if there is that amout of guys who want to stay out 12 to 14 hours on the water for no prizes hey all the power to ya also its only 1 rod per ticket and there is enough people out there "watching" they will get caught if there is more than 2 rods out and 2 tickets in the window.
If your serious about fishing this derby you will know not to cheat to many reprocusions ad a 20 lber isnt going to win it your going to need a 30 plus lb fish. so whats the advantage????? none!!!
Hope all you guy's in the derby get skunked and loose all your gear!!! Just kidding -- Good luck, have a good one and be safe. Wish I had a ticket or two, had a line on a couple but didn't pan out. May try for hali, the current's don't look to bad.
... Are fishermen all liars?
Or do only liars fish?
