I've seen people fishing off the pier in White Rock but have never stayed long enough to see if they're having any luck and with what. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

When you say crab, do you mean with crab traps? Remember you're talking to a former eastener. I'm not dumb just uneducated in this particular area. What bait and type of rod would you suggest fdor bullheads and do you cast and retrieve or just let it sink near the bottom? Many thanks for your patience and your help.

ST isn't making fun, people will cast or drop a piece of bait/meat to the bottom with a rod and line. When the crab finds and grabs ahold of it if you reel up really slow and steady they wont let go .

Thanks very much. I didn't think he was kidding but in my short time on the west coast, I'd never heard of that before. Proves you're never too old to learn or too smart that there isn't something new to learn. Best regards.

Spend a few days on the pier just watching. You can learn a lot. But get hold of Regulation booklet when you get your saltwater license. There are probably more violations of the crab fishing regs off the Whiterock pier than in most areas in BC. Bullheads are traditionally considered a kids target as they are numerous and easy to catch. There are some nice flounder and sole to be caught off the pier. Berkley Power bait works great bottom plunking. (Starry flounders are common, but they can have a strong iodine taste. I do, however, LOVE sole and sand dabs. Excellent eating.

Hope this helps

Good info. After my AM time on my elliptical trainer, I should have enough left to make the end of the pier ... maybe take my little flask with me. Thanks a bunch!!

Boy I'm glad I joined this site. So much to learn and so many guys giving me the benefit of their knowledge and experience ... nearly all of it different than back east. What's Belcarra or better yet, where is it? Thanks.
