What's your theory?

I am going to try matching the flasher to the hootchie a bit more this spring/summer. Last year last year I noticed the 140 spackle back (yellow) was working a bit better than the (green)142 spackle back. Perhaps behind the same colour flasher, be it yellow or green, it could be an even hotter rig. Maybe a black and white flasher with a black hootchie. Sometimes I get ideas from the old "Island Fisherman" magazine. Bob Meyers reports from Gabriola were specific, like blue flasher with black oil slick needlefish, green flasher with a glow white hootchie.
I learned a lot of fishing from friends and have been told that when you get a rig working, don't take it apart!

Not trying to dump on thread question. Seriously, I do think you match the flasher to the water conditions, but that's as far as it goes. What I'm dragging behind that thing is largely a function of what the fish are on at any given time. If you are stressing about matching any particular hoochie with a flasher, I do honestly think there's far better things to be chasing down....like a good scotch.

So you have partially answered my question. Water conditions ( and other factors) influence you to select a certain flasher. Again, I'm interested in your theories, and reasoning behind said theory. Thanks for the responses so far.

Where I fish, we get different water at different times of the season depending on Algae bloom. Green water I go with green flashers, clearer I move to clear flashers, and moderate water I go purple. Basically match the water. Down deep off shore I will sometimes go glow if the water is murky. Getting strong flash that looks like a feeding salmon is what I'm trying for when it comes to flasher selection. Every area has different water conditions, so what's working in Nootka might not do as well somewhere else.

It does not matter to me if they are match colours or not. sometime I don't use flasher when I run with a spoon or a plug or a bait. If I run with hootchy or something that cannot actives so I will need to use a flasher....

Don't know if I can explain the theory behind it..........

But I definitely know that some flashers will outfish other flashers with exactly the same hoochy or spoon on at different times of day.

I know because I've done it........

My best combo last season till flasher broke...

Hey cheech that looks like a glow wench from Pirates Den as your hootchy-my favourite cause it can take an LED plus a normal hook set-up

Correct... Yo-Zuri 'turd'. I set it up w/a glow gunpucky/swivel/siwash. Sometimes glow beads. I use an old camera flash to charge it up. I wore out a couple of spoons again last season too.
