what would you do? 50lb'er

I would bonk it...because it would be a once in a lifetime fish on the South Island. Then I would snap photos, upload them to this site and allow a long line of jealous hypocrites to tell me that I should not have bonked it.

I understand where some of the non-bonkers are coming from, but lets cut the B.S., you would bonk it too or you wouldn't be out there "sportfishing".

lol!

I fully understand and am not agueing the fact. I personally bonked my first fiddy. I saw that come up and it wasn't even a question in my mind back then. That was along time ago and those days I fished close to 200 days a yar and if I bonked every hawg that I hooked, and so did every guide up there, there would be anything showing up on the south coast. It is a crazy thing looking over the side of the boat and seeing that in the water, and if you fortunate to get it in the net, most people would give it the bonk unless told diffently by DFO. I personlly would now let one go and do realease the majority of my fish now but that is offset by the years of carnage I did during my professional years. Just my choice and my opinion.

If there are that many fifty plus in the Charlottes, you are breaking off or losing more to seals and sea lions than we are even catching down here. What a horrible waste, especially since those hawgs were just going to be given a nice pet on the fins and let go.

So perhaps staying off of the water in the Charlottes is the best thing to do? ;)

P.S. I am only making these comments in good fun to try to make a point regarding why I the hardworking stiff may feel entitled to bonk a trophy. LOL :D

Hey Mr. Killer outstanding fish, congrats. Is that a white by any chance? SS

Hey SS it was red the picture looks like it could be white. I got this in the boat in about 10 minutes a white would probably have given a better fight, The meat was outstanding I wasn't sure about the quality of meat of a larger spring but it was real nice.

Having fished with YO MOMMA for years I would say I am from the same frame of thought. Years of carnage will do it to you sooner or later.

"bang for the Buck" ....please , I just dropped close to $100,000.00 on my new rig. It would take thousands of fish to fullfill that "bang" .

For my buck , it's being out on the water with friends and family, thanking f$%^ck we still have something to fish for.

IMHO

Out in the ocean... bonk! Fresh salmon for family & friends!

In shore... or mouth of their river. Line cut! Go spawn and give me more big fish in 5 or 6 years! Meat not as good anyway!

Ever seen what happens to this prize fish at the hatchery?? I have!
