what to use 4 prawn bait??

Canned catfood honsestly it isnt great. I know a guy that has tons of succes with herring oil, Cat food in pellet form and half a herring in one trap.

I go to my local marine supply store and buy packages of the commercial bait. Soaking it a 1/2 to an hour in advance seems to make it work better.

Are you soaking it in fresh or salt water? Does it matter?

I've never done this so I'm curious. Can you throw out traps anywhere in the Victoria area from shore? or are they so deep that you need a boat to reach them?

I figure prawning/crabbing would be a good addition when out for a day with the kids ... just in case we don't bring home any fish.

No not from shore except im sure in some remote area it is possible but probaly nowhere you can find.

Usually just fresh water. I put a small amount in a ziploc bag with enough pellets for my traps. I have used salt water and I don't think it makes a difference. Main thing is to find a good spot. I can't think of anywhere even up here at Desolation Sound that you could drop traps from land.
