I know what makes me sick to my stomach..., people dumping garbage because they are to cheap to take it to the dump.. so abandon it on Nanaimo lakes road??.. If anyone knows who the boat owner of this fine craft is be sure to publicly shame him/her.. this is despicable. Left on the side of Nanaimo lakes road to Rot.....:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:IMG_3130.jpg

Wonder how many hours are on the outboard.......and if the hull is in good shape, could be another project for albernifisher....lol

Sadly one of the problems with fiberglass hulls. You can't recycle them so folks just dump em. Did you report it to the RDN or other?

No just seen it this morning... looks like a 50 .. who needs a prop?.. seriously how much would it cost to dump it at the dump? more then the gas to drive it to the bush??4

Get out the matches once the fire ban is over. If nothing else, they do burn well :-(((

Saratoga speedway in Black Creek takes them and uses them for the boat/crash to pass races!!!
Sad to think someone would actually dump it in the bush:(

If you can't afford to pay the money to get rid of it (still just going into a landfill and leaching out whatever), then this is what you get. I've seen a few out in the bush but most folks are nice enough to let them rot in their yards for a few decades:). Until they find a reasonable way to recycle these hull's this will continue. Until they start levying or putting recycling fees on fiberglass hulls from new, people will keep buying them. They are the cheapest way to make a fancy looking and performance hull for sure. When they get old is when it get's ugly:(.

I don't think I will ever see the death of my hull. If properly looked after it should last my kid's, my grand kid's, and so on. Re-powering and a few touch ups here and there and that is about it. Because my hull is unpainted and not foamed, it can be recycled at full price for clean aluminum (painted gets discounted). I would hate to see the day, but just think about it, instead of dumping her in the bush, I would actually be paid pretty good money for the hull!

The time has come to start thinking about what boats are made out of instead of how much they cost. Rant over.

Cheers,
John
