What new stuff have you bought this year?

Thx For the advice on the trap pulled Tincan. I searched the forums for trap pullers, and everyone seems to have a different opinion on which ones work or not. Seems like the guys who build their own ones love them! I'll keep searching for info on what seems to be the best one to buy over the counter. Let me know how your repaired one works out, guess I'll be hand hauling for a while yet!

bought another inflatable life vest at the van boat show great price, 2 on boat and to reg ones, dont need no more gear too much already

Ive been a good boy up until 2 weeks ago. Then I found a 10ft, 6wt, 4 piece TFO that I had to have and a 7wt, 4 piece Echo Switch rod that started to call my name. Needless to say there are some other goodies that work with these two rods that I will no doubt have to have.

I got my first boat in October to fish my a$$ off...and since then my wife seems to be giving me the permanent stink eye whenever I walk through the door with something new...which is every second day....I started from scratch with my gear...
So...
2 10'6 HMX
1 10'6 Talora
2 4000GT
1 TDR levelwind
2 more cheaper shakespeare levelwinds
2 Okuma Hali Rods.
4 tomic plugs...
40 or so coyote/tomic/zurtro/silverhorde spoons
15-20 or so packs of hoochies
crap load of siwash hooks
2 tackle boxes
peets spear
scotty gaff
and many other things i can't remember...

Did i already say my wife is pissed.....i think i should mention it again =)

jdr i was out fishing i.the only thing he came up with was about then barrard inlet and the police pulled up and checked me out inflatable life vest must be worn at all time s. versus the non inflatables.so heads up on that one gents

Make that 5...stopped by PNT in parksville....and he manage to talk me into one....I am going to be fishing almost primarily around the central inside coast and plugs don't seem to be used all that much. If you know of any that work well as far as plugs go for the inside let me know, just let me know when to use em....I have the 602 6" classic, a 232 6" tubby, a custom 5" red with plaid reflective interior. Any other suggestions would be great.

Hi Burnsy
My long time favorites for ECVI - 156, 156PS, 500RE. Hope this helps.

new stuff

Other than a new 20' thunderjet falcon c/w 150 and 9.9 Yamahas, things have been pretty slow around here. Oh yeah, I also bought a uv green pharr better flasher. Ha Ha, I win!

New to me 24' Trophy WA (1995) Came with 2 elec. riggers, 2 gps systems, 2 radios, assorted crab annd prawn traps and puller, bumpers,(07) 9.9 Merc. kicker, with remote lift. Can't wait to get out in it this season. Soon, should be fun.
Anyone want to buy 19' Maxum cuddy with 3L merc. will make a good deal. lol.
Also getting a new grandchild. That will be the best.

Actually, you win! Pretty hard to beat grandchildren. I have a couple, and would agree, they are even more special than boats. I hope that by the time they are old enough, there is still some salmon for them to catch! Congrats and enjoy both.

2 new MR3's were my big purchase for the year. Great retrieve but I hate how they slowly 'slip' while in the rodholders unlike their MR2 brothers. I've noticed it on all MR3's I've seen and it seems like you really have to crank the drag tight for it not to do so. Also got 2 Shimano TLD20 reels and some stumpy hali rods as I'll be exploring the southern gulf islands (mostly in the straight of georgia) for hali's. Fished around these parts for 30 years but I've heard rumours that recently there may be some around. Should be fun to explore/kill time.

Big focus on safety this year, New Icom 422 VHF (other VHF is a p.o.s), 2 immersion suits, ACR EPIRB and a 6 person Viking Lift raft.

8 weight sage fly rod with a ross CLA reel. Havent caught a fish with it yet, but it sure looks pretty and casts like a dream.

Thinking about setting up to run a third and possibly a 4th rod this year, so probably gonna buy another shimano convergence rod and outfit it with another M1 moocher.

The big purchase may come in the fall. My fishing partner wants a bigger boat, were looking at picking up a 22 foot c dory.

Good luck this year guys!

This will be our fourth season with our boat.

Spent lots o' cash the last couple of years outfitting it so was glad to not have to put out too much this year.

Did put braid on our riggers, hope that works out good.

Biggest expense was our new place, second driveway for the boat and truck, excellent!

Very cool stuff. Epirb and life raft will come for me soon. I plan on getting out to the Albacore one day but I want to be over prepared. "prepare for the worst but expect the best".
