What Kind of Fish is This?

I've never seen one in person locally but that looks to be some form of a cusk which can be described as a fish and eel hybrid. The New Zealand variety is commercially fished and traded or at least used to be.

Slightly resembles this sea monster we dragged up jigging cod last summer. Turns out this is a prowfish

I didn’t have a clue what this was nor did anyone at the dock after I showed pics so I reached out to ghanke@royalbcmuseum.bc.ca who was able to verify identity, if no one knows here and you’re curious he seems quite knowledgeable

nice one, that’s it for sure
I'm not the expert, It's my daughter, she's the fish ID specialist. Whenever I catch or see weird thinks or friends I just ask her and she fiqures it out. I was sent a picture of some weird worm and she identified it as the a Celebrate Pride worm. LOL

And she nailed it. This is what it was. Glued together from scallop and clam shells.
